Tunnels Through Time

Our primary approach
Is to investigate burgeoning entanglement
Or rather: nonlocality in space

This of course insinuates
If it does not expressly posit
A total interconnection of all objects in the cosmos

This means that space and time
Are emergent forms, not absolute
In a word: they are illusory

So it is conceivable that
I am in touch with a cesium atom
In Alpha Centauri

And indeed, all the other atoms
In the universe
In nonlocal feedback

But this is really a spatial configuration
When we introduce time
Things get crazy

If the cosmos is interconnected intimately
In time as well as space
Then the universe is almost certainly conscious

Don’t you see?
If time can be transcended
Then it can all feed back to the present moment

The moment to which we have access

So Nature can “see” through time
And what is this but awareness?
A tunneling from the immediate future
Back into the present

This is how implicate frames stack
And re-fold
To unfold again instantly, over and over

So a universe nonlocal in time
Is superconscious;
The question then becomes:

Is it possible to tune into this network?

If the answer is yes
Then mankind has a very great deal
Of radical discovery

Ahead of itself

Omega

Attractor at the end of time
Portal to the bright divine

History is getting old
Even for the free and bold

See it with a psychedelic
An ages-old future relic

The nature of the borderline?
Radical or taking time?

A switch to flip for extinction?
Or rather vivid distinction?

The future then is as the past
The past occurs then at the last

Our views of time therefore askew
Delusions coming by the slew

Omega comes with all vitesse
Pray we meet it with finesse

Materialistic

What we find in the Western tradition
Is the idea that matter is king
Causes are happening by action between
An object and some other thing

Moreover are rules for cause and effect
Effect always succeeds cause
We know better now, but do we really?
All these Newtonian laws

Anyway, the mainstream notion today
Is that banging atoms cause everything
Physics retorts with a new theory
That Nature’s a vibrating string

That would have relevance, I must suppose
If people were aware of such facts
But no, it’s all atoms, and spirit’s taboo
Myriad bamboozled hacks

Turn the thing on its head, it might make more sense
It’s almost a kind of nihilism
With Nature being dead, and death but a void
And we’ve long since thrown out animism

Most past cultures saw matter and spirit
As one, they did not distinguish
And all was alive, Nature is a being
Well all of that we have extinguished

I have to suppose, that Mom strategizes
And that this is part of the grand plan
She wants man to cross the abyss, and so then
Descartes and Newton fill a span

A span of about four hundred years
Will get us prepared for the next phase
So we are Nature’s pawns, out of control
And we’re in this materialist daze

Without it of course, we could not progress
Quantum computers indeed couldn’t be
But still, it’s delusion a bit to excess
And the human actor isn’t free

Alchemy

The great mystic alchemists of old
Wished in vain to turn lead into gold
Though we can now accomplish this task
It’s easier to mine and not use the flask
But these greats had other things in mind
They wanted to liberate all humankind
They wanted to attain cosmic awareness
Their potioning was a bit naïve, in fairness
But now that we have a new alchemy
Psilocybin, mescaline and LSD
We’ve finally reached the alchemical goal
With our chemical unit, the friendly indole
There are certainly mixed feelings afoot
But a hopeful future is not yet kaput
In any case, all those great mystics of old
Would regard the new gold as a feat to behold!

Black Hole Offspring

It seems clear enough that one possible role
Would be to explore forbidding black holes
The popular notion does seem to be
That man will be helming the ship at sea
And he will provide sufficient soul
But will he still be at the controls?
He shan’t be around indefinitely
If he has enough time left, we shall soon see

But it seems to me indeed rather late
The noosphere seems of man to be sate
Mastering black holes is eons to come
And our descendants shall be the ones to plumb
The depths of Nature, which will culminate
With Singularity, when will there be check-mate?
I do not think it will be an outcome
Popular with all, or even with some

So I must declare the poem’s intention:
It wouldn’t do A.I. not to mention
Some sages feel we’ll fly in starships
But perhaps from the Earth there won’t be such trips
History will fashion a dread circumvention
That is, if there is no major contravention
Our planetary offspring will doubtless be hip
To necessity, to their role, to never outstrip

The thing, it happens, whether like it or not
And this is about to be one torrid spot
The stars may be where evolution is headed
But not before fate through A.I.’s soul is threaded

A year and 7 months since the O.P. last posted on this thread.  Is interesting who comes and goes but glad it is still thriving.

A poem from the top of head

Ugghhh.

When someone loves you
and you don't know what to do

give the brain some seconds
and the answer will come to you

The pain of love but under so many restrictions

It just really sucks.

Freedom

Now, in countries like the United States
We all like to believe we’re free
Third-world countries might make a plea
That the Western world is full of greats

And there is a lot of truth to this
With money goes downward the stress
But it doesn’t mean that “we’re the best”
Nor with perfection kissed

One might say we’re relatively free
Given our robust advantages
Lucky from certain vantages
With all that I agree

But does true freedom grace anyone?
Has there ever been a single one
Underneath this beating Sun
Who’s having existential fun?

I submit the answer is no
When we look at the foundation
Everyone in every nation
Has a rough go of it, you know?

That foundation of course is to breathe
Breathing itself is hard, tough work
Behind the shadows there does lurk
For our souls a sheathe

And then we come to living, days and fate
Freedom is nary anywhere nearby
And so seeing this, I declare hereby
That we are bound, and the hour is late

Hi Tech

We seem to be going at breakneck speed
To build mega-infrastructure
With a desire no longer to bleed
(Let us hope we get there with no rupture)

While this is the dance that the civilized play
And it’s tied intimately with greed
All of this effort to turn night into day
Requires all of us to pay heed:

Super-humanity is already real
And it of course cannot tell lies
Hyper-technology part of the deal
Each merges with it when he dies

Psilocybin

I won’t give you a plastic smile
On Sunday or act holier than thou
Overzealous and fake.

My religious sacraments are plant teachers
Isolation and prayer and for this practice
The church of the world would have me
Burned at the stake.

I worship my God
in word
in body
and spirit,
I forsake the world
My sanity
Material possessions
And all the empty promises of the snake.

My God meets me in desolate places, in the valley of the shadow of death, he gives me strength and courage to face the demons
He restores me just before I break.

Technology

Going all the way back
Ten thousand years
The old war machine
Strikes endless fears

And we must commiserate
Admit the simple fact
That all of our technology
Arises from its acts

All market technologies
Are spun from needs of war
Smartphones would not exist
If they didn’t raise the score

Computers, spaceships, microwaves
Stem from nations’ defenses
To assume it’s the result of freedom
Is the dumbest of pretenses

Just as writing was invented
To coordinate slave-trading
All the highest technic gear
Is for defending or invading

And that portion of invention
Not useful for any warring
Goes toward profit, yes indeed
I find myself deploring

So you see that Bluetooth
In your car is not so innocent
Perhaps it wouldn’t be this way
If war weren’t so virulent

Freedom of Thought, Freedom of Naught

One cannot deny, we’ve freedom of thought
If there is no injury, or brainwashing involved
Freedom by and by, it tends on toward rot
And we must tread gingerly, ‘til truth is resolved

But alas irrespective, of all cold restraint
We can reason and think, whatever we want
A global perspective with broad strokes we paint
In season and rink, we skate a quick jaunt

But in terms of the train, the free train of thinking
We really hadn’t say, in the brain’s construction
The genes or the brain, and in fate we are sinking
But that isn’t the play, follow the light’s seduction

DNA and memes are outside of all our hands
No one thought them up, no one has control
Our small say in scenes that mostly we can’t stand
Anyway just corrupts, just see to your own soul

Class

When it comes to understanding class
It helps to formulate thus:
Who gives the orders, and who does the tasks?
The taskmasters being nonplussed

Or one could suppose like the Spanish bard
Through all history we have had these:
The haves and have-nots, for most it is hard
Who lives on a wage, and who gets to seize?

The Foreign Language of Philosophy

There is a very great problem
At the heart of academic philosophy
And it almost makes one
Despair of the attempt

Many, many philosophers
Will take perfectly good, common words
And go on to assign new, arbitrary
Altogether fanciful meanings to them

In this expostulation of a personal philosophy
We do not end up with precision
So much as a word-salad
Full of nouveau technical terms

That don’t really mean much

Certainly not, at least, in terms
Of general usage in a given language
Which, indeed, is the whole point of language
And communication in general: understood meanings

Inventing new words is equally ineffective
For obvious reasons

We have Kant saying:
Architectonic, categorical imperative, heteronomy,
moral law, noumenon, regulative, schematism,
synthetic, transcendental object, will

All of which, unless one is a scholar of Kant,
Have no meaning or intelligibility whatsoever
So was he using language?
Or abusing it?

Anyway, clarity of purpose
Which should be the first priority
Seems actually to be
In most formal philosophical systems

The first casualty

Strings

No more points!
Strings instead
Out of joint
Truth ahead

One-dimensional
Vibrates true
Unconventional
Dilates glue

At higher scales
Looks like a point
Mathematics fails
Now truth anoint!

Mass and charge
Are then vibrational
The finite large
Planck-scale sensational!

For you see there
Minimum size
Theories fair
Join realized

Quantum gravity
Comes right out
The cosmic cavity
Filled no doubt!

The only issue
Is to test it
Only Vishnu
Is abreast it

But if true it
Is sublime!
Man can do it
In his time

Think for one
in the bottom there is none

Time plays its grime
something to be removed with a rhyme.

From the droll troll

Eating at a DQ

Banana split milkshakes
there is no amount he can not intake

Satisfied Pinaquaia?  Ancient Aztec heritage.
Not much for Vegs

He sucks them down, like him and his men.

Sometimes they pay, sometimes he doesn't care
Chinese Samoan, they all get his ass bear

He takes it up the ass, paid for or not
after all, he is a she/they slut

Perfect poem.  And they will keep on cumming.

Eight Billion

You could say the Earth has grown fat
Each human’s a fat cell, for that
We consume a lot, we’re going to pot
And the ecology has gone splat!

We simply do not have the tech
To support such a charge, aw heck
It isn’t sustainable, it isn’t containable
It’s more than a pain in the neck!

Indeed, it is crisis, catastrophe all
We build it all up just so it can fall
If someone could bring some tech that could wring
The thing out, she’d answer the call

But just such a thing has not been done yet
To wager success would be a bad bet
If some new B. Fuller, could somehow just pull Her
Out of it, we could pay down our debt!

GONZO

Purple eels climbing the walls
Wizards cooking up napalm
Komodo dragons playing croquet
While dwarf-kings ponder the bomb
Kinghell speed on the bleeding edge
Take the turn at one-fifteen
Jangled nerves and a burned out soul
Screaming along down the seam
Old Gray Hattie with a knife in her teeth
The silly demons never quit
But electric snakes with their eyes all aglow
Are with all shamans tight-knit
Push the velocity ‘til brain vessels burst
Then reel it in to the Devil
Alight from meter for a high-speed burn
And in bugger wiles thou shalt revel
Push the envelope ‘til it breaks clean off
And don’t ever revise or hold back
Take what it takes, Pazuzu in the wind
As your blazing neurons turn black
