Is

The word we use the most
Is virtually a ghost
It seems when we speak, “is,”
Our brain’s an empty fizz
Because it seems to me
We do not get ‘to be’

Whatever you say a thing be
It’s quite apparent when you see
(‘Cause consciously we’re absent),
That being’s had no advent
So we’re unqualified to say
Anything about the way

The way in which objets sont
The thing in itself will or won’t
Be granted to your deeper nature
Admitted to your nomenclature
You see, the thing that has to be
Demands some existential fee

Models, concepts, maps
Pitfalls, booby traps
We may access our higher minds
But most don’t do this all the time
So the notion of the thing in itself
Is kept upon a most tall shelf

Now, when time comes to understand
Illumination be at hand
Subject, object, will unite
In a whirlwind of insight
And the territory joins the map
And the slithy tove is zapped!

The Animistic Cosmos

It is we consciousness creates
And everything we do
Spirit through and through
Our being animates

There really is no need
To get caught up in free will
Are decisions ever true?, still
One need not about it plead

All flows out of awareness
As if ‘twere on a spectrum
Philosophers have wrecked ‘em
But most don’t see, in fairness

On one end is the automat
On the other, pure volition
Fertilizing nutrition
Mother Nature is no autocrat

This free awareness seems to be
Independent of time
But dependent on rime
For it to be really free!

Pardon the flippant digression
In the end, everything flows
And every man and woman glows
Without any need for confession

The philosophy en vogue
That we are auto-bots
Is really just sheer rot
Promulgated by rogues

Large Phenomena

As humanity artificially creates large phenomena
In the spheres certain spirits are creating large sand mandalas
Nature has already provided avenues for things
We shall have to wait and see if we are made to knaves or kings

Telepathy, collective minds, and information saving
Already have the futurists and all the Luddites raving
Transdimensional computation and immortality
Are making mince-meat out of old tired morality

What’s more, the tech to upload and preserve souls does exist
Although the skeptics, atheists, and scientists resist
Why’s humanity so hell-bent on reinventing it?
Especially when so many cannot stop lamenting it

The irony here is so thick it chokes, it’s like a bog
And the future’s visible only through an opaque fog
Let us hope human survival is on the list of chores
For all those beings who must be seeing us as boors

Faith

The fetters of faith are not for full fools
The whole thing’s misunderstood
As memory melts over measure and mood
We do not remember for good

The misunderstanding moves into the matter
When we consider this ethereal nature
Attached to the advent of abject attention
We forget even our nomenclature

Presenting a point of purpose for the past
Our memories are acts of faith
Empirically empty of every example
We attempt to remember a wraith

In turn, it’s time to tell truth to thyself
We must have faith we are not wrong
Criminy, cretins of crazy Calliope
Life really is very long

Seems Obvious Now

Truths that turn out
To be taken for granted
May seem quite obvious to us
But to give them a shout
Might be underhanded
Because many still put up a fuss

Let’s take us a look
At just what I mean
And you’ll see humans at their most dumb
Later on every book
And every young teen
Will see it all as rules of thumb

The Solar System
Would be one example
It wasn’t known that planets revolve
The ancients missed them
Their knowledge did trample
On truth, and mysteries unsolved

And on top of this
The Earth was considered
The center of all of creation
This was a miss
An idea that hid Her
True nature from every nation

And then evolution
The room’s elephant
Descent from a common ancestor
A true revolution
In knowledge triumphant
We’re related to our predecessors

We’re still not quite sages
And we’ve yet many questions
And our habits are a little inertial
It took longest ages
Before any suggestion
And the latter is still controversial!

Life in the fast lane,
surely make you lose your mind.

Yeah, I wrote that.

Took a turn at the stop sign and took a turn for the worst.

Seriously though bored as hell waiting for the fourth.

Fireworks on display
a place where Brad Pitt used to play

Got a great price
Where a man got shot to death from a vice

Not afraid, can sleep through the noise
idiot M's always have their toys

They don't get the live they take
the ripple effects, and all it creates

Is sad but have been threw sadder
it does matter

They will find them as tourist dollars one realizes
the people that run the places don't like surprises

Fuck them they deserve whatever is coming
would be interesting the idiots in the stupid clothing and stupidity and dumbing

Lost generation and they will be taught as they go through all the cameras
and identify them and will be caught like bad viruses

Not posting the vid
to the highest bid

I get it and I booked it in advance
going to be a shitty vibe but will still dance

Fair or Unfair?

It strikes me as a possibility
That the world
That is, Nature
Is basically fair

It can be hard work to make a living
But at the level of brass tacks
It’s fair

Sometimes
Occasionally
It’s just an individual’s day to die

Most species
Most of the time
In most ecosystems
In a world not dominated by human civilization
Are able to do quite well

Now
It is tragic when severely injured animals suffer
But even suffering animals
Do not conceptualize suffering as man does
And therefore
They accept it and don’t fight it and don’t wallow or brood

It seems to me
That the whole “life is unfair” thing
Is restricted to civilization only

The Buddha should not have said
“Existence is suffering”
But rather that civilized man’s conceptualization
Of it is

The natural state of a given organism is not to suffer,
But to be alive

Manifest Destiny

“Manifest destiny” never did die
It’s now directed up toward the sky
It’s based on a tendency ever to expand
And for this, dear Mother cannot quite stand
We expand, we conquer, we quest, we consume
And Earth’s turning into an over-hot tomb
It goes all the way back, ten thousand years
Our one little culture, and all of the tears
This culture has ever and always expanded
And right about now a few are being stranded
In any case, most cultures are quite sustainable
But then, most others are quite containable
Not we! To the Moon! To Mars! And beyond!
With technology vast areas will become as a pond!

But hold on, I say, just wait a hot minute
I mean, really, down here we are just about finished
To “jump off” and continue our torrid behavior
Would require the aid of a rather skilled Savior
Ecology applies everywhere in Nature
So cultures unsustainable can’t reach fullest stature
Running out of resources, or running into the ground
Is not the way for civilization to stay sound
Perhaps “manifest destiny” is peculiar to us
If we forever go off-planet, it’s bound to be a fuss
‘Cause all we’ll do is pollute and ruin world after world
And our destiny will in ignominy be fatally unfurled

Multiversal Origins

It is legitimate to declare
That it is monumentally improbable
Ridiculous even
That life should appear at all

And you can forget about
Intelligent life
If there were evidence for it
It might not be so absurd to suggest it

But I suppose
There is something interesting
Going on
Here on Earth

This improbability of life’s evolving
Is wholly offset
By the fact that we live
In a multiverse

A multiverse is a limitless expanse
Of parallel universes of every type
And I mean limitless:
Some physicists have said it is infinite

If not infinite, then huge beyond huge, anyway
So, logically, there must be a very great number
Of universes in which humans arise
So: If the multiverse is real, humans must evolve

That is to say, with infinite chances
There will be infinite manifestations
Of humans, and wombats and rattlesnakes
There are even trillions of versions of you

So, the seas part a bit
Because one has to conclude
That we are the organisms of one such universe
Looking back and contemplating all of this—

Which in a multiverse, is perfectly necessary

Ever think of just writing poetry in a notebook?  I do.  And then post the ones I like from time to time.  They are not bad,  just maybe more selective?  What you really like?  I know the special ones that I write.  To me and some like it and some don't.  Blah, who cares?  Maybe share some of those poems that mean the most to you. :beer:

Id prefer him and everybody else to share whatever they got....whenever they got it.

Especially in old mates case.

Losing the inhibition is one of the great lessons of self expression.

Well, I don't think it's hurting anything. No I do not use notebooks. Other than for sharing, one reason I post my poems here is to archive them -- they will still be here if my computer crashes. I just happen to be writing a lot right now. I went for almost a year without posting at all, previously.

Decisions, Decisions

For some reason, it has become accepted
That decisions are the children of will
True will, perhaps, but this is rejected
As most have not swallowed the pill

We do not decide how we decide
The universe conditions that for us
In necessity we must abide
And to this end I implore us

To realize at once that decision making
Is but one narrow function of brain
And that will could emerge when taking
A perspective that could lead to gain

There are multitudes of actions
That do not constitute a decision
Effort and intent must find traction
We must approach the truth with precision

If free will only applies to
Decision making and its causes
Then we do not have free will, we do
Have many excuses for faux-pases

We can however be willful
In many other areas, it’s true
There is a sense in which many of one’s actions
Could not take place without you

Old Higher Realms

Quite possibly, you see, it rather seems to me
That the future has already played it out
Realities to be, and bedrocks bleeding scree
Are fodder for the most unlikely shout

If the future does exist, and one does not resist
One might posit infinity upon infinity
The skeptics must desist, and atheists be pissed
But the result would be the sweetest dear serenity

Is Heaven itself, the highest spiritual shelf
Elsewhere’s future come unto fruition?
Is our own future self, or some emissary elf,
Come back at death to pay the Dean tuition?

Is our crucial future state, before it gets too late
Interacting backward through the timewave?
What about this gate does spiritually sate?
And how to handle miscreant or knave?

Potentially we are, creating for afar
Artificial beings who shall take the mantle
If they can use a star, to propel them au revoir
Perhaps they can upload our little candle

Wouldn’t this be Heaven, uniting human brethren
Into some sort of utopian scheme?
Don’t forget circuit seven, and Samadhi to leaven
Is this not somehow a scientistic theme?

So it’s not very remote, if the doubting can be smote
That in the vastness of the multiverse it’s happened
This is logical, I’ll note, and if you point out what I wrote
Fantastical, I’ll submit and I’ll slacken

But the universe is old! And if I may be so bold
As to suggest that higher realms evolved by now
The infinite! we’re told, even though space is quite cold
Infinity leaves lots of room, and how!

So if we can posit beings, aside from what we’re seeing
That created higher-up long, long ago
It would be very freeing, with all the squirrels treeing
A trillion-trillion times by now, you know?

Basic Truths

If one becomes aware
(A novelty—beware!)
Of attributes of various certain truths
It’s not really belief
We need some small relief
A bit of saying of the basic sooth

Nor is it a matter
(Soon we’ll be in tatters)
Of probability concerns
The probable in test
Is clearly no one’s jest
But in a deeper way we oft’ discern

Nor either is it thus
Of all, the biggest fuss
A matter of basest certainty
We need not e’er be certain
That this right here’s a curtain
We know the thing indeed quite wordlessly

Questions of semantics
Are often rather frantic
And they are not without their just decree
But certain one needn’t be
To look at, see a tree
It is quite self-evident to you or me

Perhaps we’re not objective
With our mundane directives
But this isn’t really very much the point
When I visit with my dog
I know it’s he, by Dog!
And certainty’s a little out of joint

There is all of this stress
When it comes to truly test
The variables of our reality
But belief, probability
And certainty, you see
Do not total to the totality

Admissions of linear circulation.
When a completion creates new.
Totality is an impassable calculation.
Beyond a individual participants purview.

The very interactions of expectancy.
When trying to place results behind.
Seems to allow a momentary latency.
But only reproduces nothingness in kind.

The paradox is not found in potentials.
Nor before or after result.
Each sphere holds truly confidential.
Asking for surety is an insult.

Life before Vegas and the 4th
America goes forth

Is fun but am listening to a depressing Pink Floyd sond, god, it is sad
sad, mad, glad, if one is a sadist
One of the depravest

Really this is depressing me
Yet am still free
get why it bothered me so much on LSD

Unmagumma.  Don't think it supposed to mean anything
Maybe something left over from Syd Barrett things

God it is making me depressed just listening to it now

LSD and music gone wrong, but Piper was some of my favorite albums.  He made one that was fun.

I see the album as one long song
not drawn out just I get it.  I want to tell you a story, if I can.

Seriously they just replayed some from Saucerful shortened and added a few songs on the album.
Get so much more why it was depressing.  Is not fun.  Not dumb but just a declining mental state
of Syd and how he could become so berate.

Seriously the guy locked his girlfriend in a room and slid food under the door to her.  Listening to it again I get why it depressed me.
The last songs not copied from earlier albums are like a horror movie.

I can't even make it to the ping ball song.  But at least my conscience is strong.
Didn't get it at the time
that drugs aren't always fun all the time, not that what he did would ever cross my mind

I don't judge for the most part in life
endless strife

But shit this is just bad.  And educated guess is why not the most popular Pink Floyd album.  It is just dark.  Like Syd and his brain going insane.
