Silenced
Letting loose the word of God Would just not make The word there take Root, though some were awed
In such soil there is no flow How very Zen It might have been To see such great trees grow
Utterances officially unsanctioned Were punished hard And some were barred And the peasantry was anxious
Indeed, despite their good intentions The people feared And most were jeered As they sought their circumventions
Existential threat to the stability Of those in power It was not the hour Of popular tranquility
The messengers meant all the best But in the end Out with the wind They went, with all the rest

The Conquest
Muralists depict you The Aryan brotherhood None could e'er restrict you And your false concepts of good
Natural disaster! Your progress for its sake The sake of growth, the master Of every color's fate
Throw it all to wolves Lose scarce a minute spent The markets are all bulls But our souls to hellward rent
Every single construct Would have arrived anyway But we hurried, harried, awestruck In order to seal the day
Development in order Is a coin from Nature's purse Assault at every border Has made the planet worse
Nary a one may understand The words here I have written Truth be scarce in this sad land But with it, I am smitten

The alluring and radiant light Fades into a pastel twilight Culminating in an achromatic night Such is our lives Born of the womb A fresh soul arrives A newborn in bloom Innocence intact Unabated potential Dreams to enact Hope was existential But alas, we pass our prepubescence Absorb the realities of our adolescence Knowledge is the essence of senescence Innocence is lost Life gets complex The hopes we exhaust Dreams we forget Cynical as we age Accept how it goes The world is a stage In need of repose Old and gray we age in latter days Our mind's an antique we self-appraise Waiting for death with compounding malaise The roads we pave The stones we turn From cradle to grave The lessons we learn The friends we make The lines we write They are ours to take Back to the starlight

Awesome Sometimes I'll take some of my poetry and compose some music to go with it. Been looking for a drummer to get a new band started.

The beauty of a leaf Can be seen in awe Just as a beautiful reef So open the door And open your eyes There's so much more Than religious lies Look at a cell If you want what's true Only you can tell The sky is blue I don't mean to harm Or change who you are But in seek of charm Science doesn't go too far

I feel trapped in an abysmal existence No control, my soul weeps in the distance I'm just an observer Out here in the dark Departed of my fervor Raped of my creative spark...
Drifting away Further and further As my spirit decays In a million subtle ways
Nothing makes sense Tomorrow is uncertain We all build a fence And hide behind the curtain So we don't have to see All those who are hurting Ignorance is bliss, Bliss is disconcerting
Alone in my woes 'Cause that's the path I chose I wallow in dismay, I wouldn't have it any other way
Life is what you make it Most are content to fake it Oblivion awaits us all Waiting for us to fall... Will you get back up? Or are you just going to take it?
For even if our fate is grim The future, so gray and dim We must find that spark To ignite the torch within And never again, give in

I feel as though my mind is dual With thoughts abroad and feelings split With all this life it's oh so cruel So sometimes I ask if this is it
The world we live in is made of matter It's one of water, sand and soil A fine place for a mad hatter For all our efforts and all our toil Our mother nature will not forgive us It wrecks and heaves with storms so strong And takes us out without a fuss
Even though our will is strong It takes a toll to see her wrath Though we've known all along That mother nature has no path
The cells that divide and keep us alive Have been around for many years If all they do is help us thrive Then why the need to shed those tears
I do not know what the future holds And I do not know why nature is As time goes on and ever folds It seems to me that this is it

I don't know if this has been posted already but I really liked this one by user MagicalOrangutan:
Quote:
On the ground you lay, with your dogs you pray, at a neon hieroglyph sky you gaze Hugging your mind, praying to survive, feeling the love of the hieroglyphs in the sky We all need more love, and mainly less hate Hate is the blind that covers the heart's eye That makes the heart's eye cry Locked deep away in the skies of our minds It's all in the mind

Actium
In time we hate that which we often fear. Antony and Cleopatra
Open the sea lanes! Caesar draws near! Agrippa the Commander Slices the Mediterranean
Ptolemy weeps in his cradle As the crash and sweep of battle Begins to rage
Ionia trembles As a young Augustus primes fate Agrippa moving the legions around Like chess pieces and chaff
Antonius and his bride Engaged but outmaneuvered Drawing a horseshoe in latter battle Their escape was sealed
The battle won, an Emperor crowned By and by The happy vibrations of Pax Augusta a faint early tremor As the fugitives seek their lives And lose them honorably
A rival Antony, and any other To be quashed with prejudice So that we draw near to heat Which burns in fear, and scalds in threat
History is broad gossip Yet Caesar is no trifle Imperator and princeps
A dictator; benevolent, brutal, fearful, confident Emperor Does he do good after Actium, or ill?

A blissful desolation The wind kisses me through the trees Piercing, fragrant breeze Sweeps my weary soul off its feet The Earth keeps me grounded In the sky resides my dreams Sustained by the clouds that bleed
My love resonates in the sunbeams My heart murmurs through the storm The fire beside me burns Crackles and keeps me warm The forest sings its ancient song A symbiotic harmony Great harmonoeus symphany Oblivious to our love It only knows the seasons As it dances around the sun No rhyme or reason It just is And it just does

Night sleeps through the black architecture of unconsciousness My eyelids close on the funeral of the day Dreams blister and crackle in the fires of its pyre I wish it well
The morning awakens with two eyes The night has spoken through the hours I hope this day is worth remembering I hope it's nothing like yesterday's eulogy
Paramount to learn, memories to burn Same people, same streets Nothing to say it can't be different With a new glance
Even the coffee

Receiver
Grand mirror, that verdure made expanse, seeks an eye, Which it will rent tonight; this entrance! Stare awry; Honed image which dances there within; I shorn ideals, Wrought to fires' design, flame ignites clear of mind; Bend into those lines of thine beauty, though unsound; Shame 'twill be those lines pure- thou reside therein, unbound.
Bold Statements Through A Sickness Of Cold...
the story the wheel told rolling down the hill, axiom of choices, but a choice once fullfilled, e'er flowing joyous the story told by wheel rolling down the hill

So careless is our kind in its perilous design, I struggle to define the jungle we've been assigned... Defeated and resigned, Cheated and made blind Confused and silenced Through the use of violence, Raped of our self-reliance Shaped by evil tyrants We've become a fucking virus That's succumb to amoral giants
A hidden hand that has spanned across the land Has taken any semblance of hope So we smoke dope to cope And walk this tightrope on a downward slope Into oblivion...
This self-induced hell on Earth We've been cursed with since our birth Increases the dearth of our own mirth and Decreases our self-worth as we get served that which we wholly deserve...
How can we hold our heads up high when We've bought into the lies and sought Our own demise as we mute the cries Of millions of children that die Because they lack the basic supplies That are needed to survive and thrive...
Don't act surprised or apologize, It was televised into your eyes For all of our fucking lives...
How fucking dare we call ourselves civilized...
This world is a sad abode and not a home I can condone for all it's shown And all I've known as I've roamed Around these catacombs that crumble Like the stones of Rome and tumble Into the great unknown, our fate is already sewn, The hate is too much to atone...
I'm sickened as the madness thickens And stricken with a sadness I can't relinquish as we continue to Extinguish life until it's finished And all hope is utterly diminished...
Hanging from a rope seem so instinctive...
There is no chance for peace... The wars will never cease... No chance for compromise... As fire rains from the skies... There is no future here... No God to show us care... The system's beyond repair... So accept the despair... The volatile atmosphere... You know the end is near... There is no future here...
