Wood loving Psilocybes require about 3/4 year to establish enough to fruit. I'm afraid, that you won't be able to successfully fruit them. The appearance of spring-fruits is pretty rare and -as far as I have seen it- only happens with older patches, that are already established.
For the next time, you should leave the wood chips where they are, take some spore prints and start off your own mycelium. Alternatively, it's absolutely enough to take VERY few mycelium covered chips with you. Taking" butt loads" probably results in a lethal damage of an outdoor patch and is not necessary. Just for you to know.

As long as you're past the frost I can't think of a reason why you couldn't just throw that mycelium mixed with extra alder chips in a garden patch that is shadowy and keeps a bit moist. Then come sept-oct-nov they should fruit, right? Before that I don't think is an option but in the fall it should be fine.

Yes, you can. It's pretty easy to go from a small piece of colonized wood to a whole batch. Just keep adding wood chips to it and it'll work itself out. It's quiet important to provide plenty of FAE, as long as you don't want to deal with double sterilized wood chips. Go for basket for example. Depending on when the frost is gone in your place, you can spawn the wood chips to an outdoor bed.
