nice, i never noticed this subcategory before..
anyway this is a yurt i built last year and me and my wife and two kids fit in it nice and snug. it's been a lot of fun. i'm making a new cover for it with a more weather tight, rugged style, you know zippered door and rain fly. all out of shrunk and treated canvas.

ooh that looks nice and cozy. yurts can actually be pretty decadent with the right furniture and stuff. does anyone make yurts with wood stoves? i've always wondered, every yurt i've seen has a space heater running or something.

Nice. How portable is it? Looks like it could be a real bitch to set up and tear down.

Awesome...
It definitely looks like it has a cozy feel to it.
I'm thinking about living in a Yurt for a while at one point in the relatively near future....Hopefully

it's pretty portable. only 10' diameter. weighs about 50-60 lbs. and takes me about 20 min by myself to setup. not to bad when compared with tents around that size. it's def. not for light weight camping. it fits in the back of my suby with tons of room for everything else..

Supper legit, ever take that thing on a multi-day raft trip? turn that into one mean hotbox on the river.

Nah,, .

There are a number of rules which guests should follow. All weapons should be left outside, do not step on the threshold, point your feet at or put rubbish on the fire. Do not sit with your back to the altar, whistle, write in red pen, step over older people or point a knife at anyone. One should take at least a little of any food or drink offered. When offered arak or vodka flick a small amount to the sky, the wind and the earth before drinking.
I remember you have to sit in a certain area, and they're funny about which hands you receive things with.
Walking into one of those in the middle of the Gobi is an awesome experience, the food however, is not. Dried goats milk and salty tea,, .

thanks, it's small and fun. but that was the point of building it. i love the big ones and would like to own and live in a few someday/time. honestly though, with no land it's hard to even imagine going after a bigger one, let alone the price. my kids love it, and it feels very cozy when it's all set up. like i said, i'm working on building a new cover that's a lot more weather tight so we can try some extended camping. right now we just take it out on the weekends.

lol thats not how it works. in nearly ALL undeveloped countries, and even many developed with a high amount of poor like india or china, the left hand had been used for wiping for hundreds if not thousands of years. you wont really find any left handed people in these places. its a custom, kind of like taking shoes off at the door. this is why you never offer to shake someones left hand from a place like this, it is offensive. you might as well tell them to fuck off lol.

They use felt over there that they make themselves from the goats,, pretty awesome really considering the weather conditions they put up with. Doubt it's up to much rain though.

or taken with on camping trips

But try as I might on that first day in Delhi, everyone’s hands looked perfectly clean. Then came the moment of truth after my first curry, squatting down over the Indian toilet, reaching around with the hand and… it felt surprisingly good. I discovered a part of my own body that had always been out of sight and out of mind, the least conversational area of the human anatomy – unless you happen to be a traveler in India in which case a discussion of your recent bouts of diarrhea is a normal topic at the breakfast table.
Within no time I was using my left hand and water to wash and soon couldn’t imagine doing otherwise. For one thing it marked apart the travelers from the tourists and I took great pride in pointing out:
‘Look, if you had some excrement under your armpit would you use tissue paper to clean it or water?’
Haha! This is my experience exactly! I too have never looked back since switching, it is cleaner!
Sometimes I'll start talking about diarrhea and shit to my friends here in Toronto too, and the conversation always seems to die...
