can you use just plain water instead of perlite?

wouldnt the FC be more humid if you had actual water at the bottom instead of perlite? im just curious for opinions?

yes thats how i did my first grow but i put my cakes on top of my jars
i like perlite better tho

no no no! get perlit. water in the bottm of the FC is bad and you need holes in the bottom of the FC anyway.

dont, its a great environment for contams and you dont get enough humidity, but if you insist, get an aquarium air pump and a bubble stone, perferably the long one and weigh it down directly below the cakes, it increases FAE and humidity.

standing water is an open invite for contams. plus, it wont even keep your fc as humid because it has less surface area for water to evaporate from than perlite
