ATL#7 on Groats.
    #11974216 - 02/06/10 09:04 AM (14 years, 19 days ago)

Got a ATL#7 sporeprint from Sporeworks and I'd like to get some stones.

I made a very small scrape into 3 jars of karo water and was pleased to see no apparent contams and sufficient myc growth to get 5cc of Thick LC by day 12.
Inoculated one pint jar of groats 2 days ago with the 5cc and maintained 77F.
Today there is clear colonization of some grains.

Assuming everything is fine, I'll G2G to another 10 jars when it's ready.

My prep of groats involves 24hrs soak in coffee and simmer 20mins before PCing in jars. Groats seem to be just like Rye berries during the prep.

I'm not sure if I should add some sterile water to the groat jars when doing the G2G or try to get a bit more water in the grain at soak/simmer.

I'll probably get some millet, brown rice and RGS jars ready as well for seeding. Groats have been my preference up to now for other mushies because it shakes and breaks up easily.

Comments would be appreciated!

A bit disturbed by what I am seeing, Is the ATL#7 mycelium supposed to be white coloured?
Before I open the jar and sniff, the grains have white tips of colonization but there are tan coloured treads of something over the top of the grains.

How's that.
These grains were intended for G2G in a big way. I suppose to only real test is a quick shake and sniff. Anyway they don't seem the same as cubes in colour.
