is a sudden temp drop ok for my mushrooms? they have been growing for about 4 days now and there about 3 inches tall and i work a 12 hour shift. why i was out we had a power outage and the heater that was keeping the room at 75 didn't turn back on. so the temp in my tub dropped to 61. is this ok or did it mess anything up. i turned the heater back on so the temp should be back up soon

75 is a little high for tubs, you may consider bringing it down to 70ish in there, as the tubs and subs are no doubt warmer inside. 61 is actually a normal household temperature to me which I have grown at so don't fret about that.

that's not so bad then, those are relatively optimal temps for tubs.

it can be, most don't even recommend incubating at higher than 75. You'd have to be out of your mind to want to live in that insane sort of heat anyway. I remember RR telling me that he had read some reliable data that told him that mushrooms grown at lower temps were able to grow fuller and thicker. I also noticed that the amount of dry to wet weight was more even at lower temps. Suggesting water use to be more efficient at these temps.
However these comparisons were not done with isolates (which caused the biggest increase {<2x} in yields) so may not be considered to be scientifically valid. I still believe they have anecdotal merit as a possible indicator of performance.
Besides, if it were 75 degrees in here you'd have a hard time getting me to try to stop sweating and reproduce, I don't see any reason why your mushies should feel otherwise.

Actually 70-75 is usually the norm for colonization and fruiting temps. They fruit fine at those temps. They do tend to grow more solid when fruited colder.
I fruited these cakes at around 73-77 I do most my fruiting at those temps and they always come out perfect

Fruits that developed in cold temps take longer, but are more solid, as said above. It seems they're more potent as well.

It's about 90% water. So 1,75 gr would be roughly 17 to 18 grams wet.

75F is fine but low temps are fine too. I usually fruit at 68F (average) but at night my temps drop to mid 50s. 10 years ago everyone was growing cubes using the 86F(colonization) and 75-80F(fruiting) combination. Now we know room temp is perfect and cubes can grow meatier and (maybe) stronger with lower temps. GL
