Spores from old grows = contams???

Ok, this might be a stupid question, but what are the chances that a grow can become contaminated by spores from a different shroom species or strain that have been lingering around since a previous harvest? I mean, I know its not as bad as having a ton of trich spores in the air, but a single fruiting flush I imagine can pump millions of spores into the air at my house. Can spores from another strain or species cause problems or am I just being silly?

Yeah. I hope the clothes hamper isn't going to cause problems with the straw log I'm about to start in my closet...

I don't think there will be a problem. But one trick for avoiding any competitor spores that might have stuck to the gills of the sporulating mushrooms is to discard the first print, say after 6-7 hours. Then keep the 1-2 prints you can make after that. If you do this and print in your glovebox/in front of your flowhood then no other spores should get printed than the right ones. The 'wrong' spores would drop on the first print (though still most likely in microscopic proportions compared to the spores you do want there).

the biggest problem is the spores from the mushrooms you are currently growing.
when you let your fruitbodies sporulate all over the sub, those spores start growing. The young mycelium emits some kind of volatile gas that acts as a signal to inhibit fruiting. One simple solution to this tho is lots of fae, which disperses the gas.
