Nerd looking mushroom
    #12025013 - 02/13/10 11:35 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

I have seen a few of these in my area growing under the same type of tree in grass/pine needles. It has a black cap with a brown fluted stem. There are no gills, I remember seeing something like it on someone elses post but I think theirs had a white stem. Does anybody have an idea of what this is?

Helvella sp. likely H. lacunosa.

Next time try a digital camera in macro mode for clear close-up pictures.

And what the frick is a "nerd looking mushroom"?
