how many flushes you think they're good for? and you really think they are worth fruiting as cakes?

fruit them as cakes. You get more then half what you get from 1/2 pint cakes. Just like normal cake 3-5 flushes depending.

They probably only need a day or two to consolidate I would think. I'd fruit em as is, just less chance for problems. Gluck!

crumbling them up and making them into spawn by them self will reduce yield. The mycelium has to repair its self and recontact with each other thus taking more time and energy . If you are spawning to coir id say do that. Is this your first grow ? If so just use cakes. I love the 1/4 pint cakes its what I use since I dont have a working PC atm

Anything you change now is just adding another step that could go wrong, like crumbling or spawning or anything...you know you have GOOD cakes with no contams that can probably be easily fruited...see what I mean? You will have the chance to get more if you spawn to bulk but the risk goes up as well and you might end up with nada :\

i've got 1/2 pints too but they're obviously behind the 1/4's. haha not much though. altogether i should have enough to try cakes and spawn... most likely to coir if i try. got 2 tubs to kinda seperate everything in case of contams. but i honestly dont feel like fuckin shit up... i just dont wanna be bummed out when i have 3 baby shrooms growin off a tiny cake. you think i'd be pleased with just cakes? can anyone explain about how much a 1/4pt cake would grow? sorry if its annoying but i'm just trying to figure it all out to develop my own style. and bother people less.

Well I can get 10 grams dry at times on a single flush with a 1/2 pint cake. So I am sure I can get at least 3 grams dry a single flush with a 1/4 pint.

Depends since this sounds like your first grow just be happy with what you get at all. You will get better over time. If I had to put a number on it id say 1.5 grams dried per cake per flush (could be more but since your inexperienced no offense ) The half pints maybe 2.5. I have gotten up to 4 grams dried of the 1/4 cakes but . Just like eggs don't count your shrooms before they hatch or fruit rather

lol honestly my first try i did 6 cakes and 12 popcorn jars, spawned the popcorn to two trays and a monotub, yesterday i birthed cakes and dunked, after seeing all the pins on my monotub and two trays i honestly said screw cakes without even trying, immediately crumbled and spawned to coir/verm...granted i saved 1 cake just to see what it turns out like since never doing it...what can i say, i'm a go big or go home kinda guy

Maybe make a pyramid or something out of the 1/4 pint cakes, hehe. It'd look cool at least. If you don't like how they come out you have the 1/2 pints to use as spawn.

3 flushes. make sure to dunk the cakes after each flush. Cakes are great, when im getting 13+ dry grams a cake I would consider that great that more then enough I never really found the need to grow pounds at a time. Cakes are great if you want to do fresh trip thought the whole year instead of doing a bunch of huge grows and having to dry them all and then have them laying around, It also give you a chance to try many different strains at once using minimal space and great for testing isolates
