I know of one dog that's a complete alcoholic. The owner is pretty much a pisshead too.
If there is an open can of beer sitting on the ground,it will knock it over and religously slurp up the mess.

I would never put my animal in a situation where they couldn't move or get away if they wanted to...
I would say most animals don't like getting intoxicated in any way, but it's not uncommon at all. Even in the wild, Jaguars have been documented eating plants that contain DMT, deer eat Amanita muscaria and psilocybin mushrooms among other animals, catnip , elephants along with other animals often eat fermented fruit....But it's there choice
I have seen a few cats & dogs that like weed, and several dogs that enjoy beer as well. My dog actually enjoys weed, though i never force him hits. Sometimes when i'm smoking he hops up near me and i will slowly blow out my hit close to his snout and he just sits there and takes it....He gets all sorts of playful, eats, then takes a long nap....My buddies old cat liked weed as well, always trying to hop up in someones lap when there smoking.
...Again though, i would never put my animal in a something just to get it high

My dog knows what ganja smells like. Sometimes he avoids me and the smell, sometimes he gets right up in my face when I'm smoking. I'll blow a smoke cloud in his direction when he hangs out with me, and I know he gets stoned. He's eyes get read, he gets munchies, and he just freaks out. He's smart though, he knows when I'm stoned I'm very likely to rub his belly for a long time-- and when he is stoned too he looks likes he's rolling on mdma from it all haha.
That being said, there is a difference between blowing a cloud of smoke into my dogs direction, while he is in a ventilated space and free to move away-- and shoving a cat into a box and blowing smoke in, or giving an animal alcohol [it's a poison].

....Funny, on the topic of animals getting high. My buddies puppy ate a 1g joint (of some killer OG Kush) today. I guess my buddy had the J on his ear and it fell onto the couch or something, a while later he notices the J is gone and can't find it anywhere, and the dog is in a deep nap....
I saw the pup this evening and he was fine...Didn't even puke which i thought he might. He just seemed sorta sleepy and lethargic, but would get ridiculous bursts of playfulness out of no where, it was pretty funny.

i only put him in the box after he does the usual getting all up in my smoke i exhale, to show he wants some even then i usually wont get him high every few times he does this ill get him high and throw him in the box the lids not sealed on or anything just place on top and i lift it up and blow hoots in it he can leave if he wants to but he usually never does only if im having a real long session will he push the lid of and hop out usually to go munch out then come lay on my lap and purr like a mofo.
im not finding him then taking him throwing him in box closing it so he cant get out then blowing smoke in his face till he greens.

This is exactly like my dog dude, exactly...He definitely knows the smell...Sometimes he avoids it, and other times he's right up in my face. I just blow a cloud his direction and he sits & takes it, maybe a sneeze or two after. I often give him a belly rub also after and it looks like he's on cloud 9.

well, i had a cat that ate all the leaves of some plants i had growing in my BR. so, i took her, and put her in a pepsi soda case, and blew like, 3 shotgun hits in the box. i waited 5 mins, and let her out, and she was running everywhere, jumping on the other cats, haha she came out of nowhere and jumped on my back when i was playing Forza, dug her nails in real deep. i thought she was mad at me, but until she died, every time, and i mean every thime i got high, she would get in my lap, and id give her whole hits. my opinion is, that she LOVED it. oh, and when she jumped on my back, she had a bad habit of doing that before she ever even ate leaves.
sad part is tho, is that i misted my plants with nute solution, and didnt shut the door, and she snuck in, ate like, 2' worth of fan leaves. she was really sick for 2 days, she got better, then i woke up and she was dead. i think it was the fox farm....

I hate people who say that there are no circumstances in which you can give an animal you own any mind altering substances. While failing to realize that in the animal kingdom there are several animals who actively pursue psychedelics/intoxicants (that includes fermented fruits on the ground that birds and other small animals get an alcohol buzz from) and sometimes fight over them. Look it up, animals do some CRAZY ass shit and trip their animal balls off. I used to have a book about it.
No, don't get you cat fucked up everyday, but if you ON OCCASION wanna get you cat a little stoned/tipsy, whatever. Then do it and watch him well and make sure he is safe/comfortable. HE/SHE WILL BE FINE, and he might even enjoy it (imagine that).

I hope a dog one day turns around and forces you to shove your head up another dog's arse. Just because they do it doesn't mean we should too.
Leave the poor animal be; it can live without being high. Not to mention, if you get caught, you're going to be in serious shit and further give a bad name to people who smoke weed. It's just not needed, is it?

Bad analogy, a dog forcing a human to do something a human wouldn't is the same as a human giving an animal a dose of drugs which a lot of animals already do.
Look at some of the stuff in this thread and see that the animals actually LIKE the drugs. Like I said in moderation and with supervision you pet will be fine and probably enjoy himself.

You're getting animals high which despite your idiotic reasoning is most likely making them feel confused. Its just as stupdas dosing someone. Hopefully someone takes your animals away and throws you off a cliff. No need to insult you, you do a good enough job just by coming off as an asshat.
Ignored.

Yeah, it wasn't a very good analogy, but it was only there to delineate the difference between humans and other animals. You can't be sure what the animal does and doesn't like, anyway. The fact is, you don't know the effects it is having on your pet. Sure, maybe it is only having benign effects; it could be affecting them in a very adverse way, though. Or, like humans, it may affect some positively and others negatively. You just don't know.
But I still stand my point: what is the point? The animals don't have free will, and psychoactive substances are definitely something they needn't be subject to. Yes, I know there are some examples of animals finding them in the wild and then developing a "liking" to them, but marijuana often does make people more slow, "dozy" and even depressed in the long term; whilst it may not happen to everyone, I've seen it happen to people first-hand. Such depression is not going to help the animal in the wild, and nor in a domesticated environment.
People own pets usually because of the social bond they develop with them; it's nice, even heart-warming. People here have mentioned how funny it is to have your pet stumbling around; must they really reduce that bond to mocking the animal?
Basically, animals do not get educated on psychoactive substances like we do. They don't ask questions, and so lack the curiosity and intelligence to try psychoactive substances without accidentally chancing upon them. Now, if we knew nothing about the substances, we'd see no reason in them; this is how the animals are. You can have a perfectly happy, healthy animal without them. Don't risk losing that.
