Impulse Sealer blacked out my room

When I went to test my impulse sealer and plugged it into the wall my bedroom lights went out. Why is this? Is it because I have too many things plugged into the room? Would this happen if I plugged it into the bathroom wall outlet. How is this prevented?

I really think I got a faulty impulse sealer. I got an outlet that resets if its overpowered and its rated at 120 volts and 20 amps. I have used an impulse sealer before on it with no problems. This impulse sealer is suppose to use 430 watts. its a pfs-300.
It's from http://store.machineworldusa.com/12imse.html
Don't buy their impulse sealer this thing is bunk. I might even just throw it away because I'm pretty sure it doesn't just suck up 430 watts. But I'll try to return it if I can get it to them with 5 days now. This sucks.
Edit: I tried this in 3 different circuits in my home. 1 in my room where I thought too many things were on. 2 in the bathroom with a 20 amp outlet and breaker is supplied to the bathrooms where nothing is powered. and 3 in the basement where nothing is used and it tripped that outlet too.

Its broken return it if possible. There are crossed wires or somthing inside causing the circuit breaker to trip.
