is this an okay casing setup?
    #1201547 - 01/08/03 05:22 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

I want to take about 20 spent pf tek cakes, put them on the bottom of a  container, cover with sterilized vermiculite.  That will be my casing.  Will that work?  It seems like there won't be any nutrients.

You can try casing them with something like manure. Since they are already expired cakes they are gonna need more nutrients and water you can't use vermiculite. Vermiculite has no nutrients. Its sole purpose is to soften soil and retain moisture. If you are even gonna attempt it, you should use manure or straw. You need to replace the nutrients and water. Keep us posted and let us know how you make out.

in my opinion, you'll probably just breed contams. The beauty of poo is that it contains natural contam-fighting bacteria. More brown rice flour out in the open air is fuel for contams as much as it is fuel for shroomies.

-Peace.
