    #1201145 - 01/08/03 03:04 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

I dont really wanna listen to Shpongle too much when i am Tripping, but i want some Old music.. something that the old Cid users may have listend to back in their day   Grateful dead is already on that list, as is Hendrix..  Anyone have any other bands i should toss into my Discman or Stereo?

old music...
leary suggested listening to terry riley's "a rainbow in curved air" ... & the rolling stones' "their satanic majesties' request"...
sanfran bands:
quicksilver has some excellent stuff...
jefferson airplane ("after bathing at baxter's" is just amazing)& starship ("blows against the empire" is a scifi trip...)
david crosby's "if i could only remeber my name"
garcia: garcia
lesh & lagin: seastones
hooterroll?
13th floor elevator
janis joplin
it's a beautiful day
joni mitchell
~
classical music...
jazz like miles davis, john coltrane, charles mingus, pharoah sanders, charles lloyd...
"new age" stuff like stephen halpern, andreas vollenweider, walter carlos' "sonic seasonings", the sufi choir, mickey hart, synergy, vangelis...
mind-bending comedy like the firesign theater...
indian classical stuff (like ravi shankar or ali akbar khan)
folk music, bluegrass, c&w, ethnic...
shucks, listen to the stuff dr sagan picked out for his "cosmos" TV series (or the stuff they picked for the voyager record...)
~

Awesome suggestions! ...RUSH 2112 is one of my favorites, notable points are OVERTURE(intro 2112),tears and the solo in the twilight zone.

My favs are Zepplin, Floyd, Beatles, Doors,Hendrix, Foghat, Crosby, Stills,Nash and Young are fun ones too. Marley for the times you need a calm relaxing song, The Who, CCR, Riders of the Purple Sage ( they used to open for The Dead), The Eagles have a few trippy songs too that will make you think. If you can take being indoors which i dont pariculary like myslef but check out Yellow Submarine and if you want a deep pretty hard trip try Floyd's THe Wall trippy and dark, veiwer beware . Have fun Man!
