Is this going to fruit or what? (PICS)
    #12009648 - 02/11/10 02:37 PM (14 years, 11 months ago)

Okay, now I'm worried for my bulk tray...

Its been 3 weeks now since the initial colonization.  It was left colonizing for 6 days and then put into fruiting conditions since then.  It has been in the same terrarium as my cakes that have grown quite well, however I have yet to see even one pin on this giant cake!

It is pasteurized horse manure inoculated with 2 BRF cakes.  Is it possible that the mycelium network is still forming?  It gets sprayed and fanned 3-4 times a day because it is underneath my BRF cakes.  Do these tray ever just completely stall?

looks alright to me, could be a little dry.
sometimes when my trays seem to be stubborn as far as fruiting goes i give them a nice dunk/thin casing layer and.... :mushroomgrow:

Yeah, co2 is heavier than air, so all those cakes that are producing co2 are shitting it right on top of that tub and it doesn't have anywhere to go.  Just my guess.  The holes look a bit high up too so the fanning is good but these circumstances are a bit different than norm so maybe a bit more than 3-4 fans or maybe just get another FC...

maybe but co2 could be pooling in that tray since it has no holes near the sub  how often do you fan

hmm... maybe I should birth the cake from the tray and dunk it for 24 hours, then place it on its own in the terrarium.  would this be wise?

dunk the tray, just fill it with water and put a weight on the sub. drain water 12-24 hrs later and that may do the trick

i doubt its CO2 as long as you fan properly

Okay, so I took it out of the FC, flipped it and took a few pics for you guys.  It feels very very moist on the bottom, and if I were to try and flip it back or pick it up, I'm pretty sure it would break in half as it feels very flimsy.  Should I dunk for 24hrs or let it dry?

Well, does the mycelium look completely formed?  I'm thinking maybe its too wet and it won't spread.  Unless it looks done to you guys...  If one more person chimes in I'll dunk.

horse manure taken from a dumpster at my buddy's farm.  Cooked it on the stove at 170 degrees F for an hour or so, drained it pretty damn dry, but still moist, then crumbled up two colonized BRF cakes and mixed them in and covered with foil for first 6 days.
