melting Rubbermaid containers...
    #1200856 - 01/08/03 11:55 AM (21 years, 2 months ago)

i'm going to use TheCutless Incubator as my incubator, and i was wondering how hot does a rubbermaid container need to get for it to melt a hole in it?

dude just get a fully submersible aquarium heater that comes with its own suction cup connectors.
That getto one in that tek is totally un-necessary.
You can even buy a heater guard.

Example

Roadkill. .. I am using one with the suction cups on the bottom. You have had no problems with them coming loose. I haven't. But I do worry. Should I? BTW That is a very nice looking heater. Looks like there is a plastic type guard around the glass.?

yes, you should worry. i left one unattended for two weeks. when i got back, the wooden floor was burning (thank you anti-fire paint), i almost burned the entire house down. you don't want to take those heaters lightly, really

Yes it is a heater guard....available at Petco Pet Store.
They are used to keep the fish from rubbing up against a hot heater.

I have never had a submersible aquarium heater go out or break on me in the past year or so....I use the Tronic brand.

I'll only use Tronic and Ebo Jaggar brands.

I used Ebo Jaggars for 20 years with Tropical fish....they are really spendy though.

For heat in my incubation/fruiting chamber, I'm using a glass bottle, i think it's 2.5 litre's and a 100w awaurium heater inside of that, I can control the temp to the degree...having trouble's with my moisture control though....
