so what if you powder a few grams and put it in lemon juice and in an air tight container, then let it sit there for an hour or two? would it only last like 3-4 hours? and just be intense as fuck

Even if it is a placebo effect I put full faith in the fact that my trip will be better, more intense and more enjoyable because of the vitamin C I've consumed. I know fully well that there is no proof it helps, but I figure the placebo effect is quite the phenomenon so I may as well exploit it. Believing with all your heart that something is true makes it true in your perspective, which is entirely controlled by your mind anyway. I say dose up, vitamin C's good for the immune system anyway and is pretty darn safe even in large ammounts

CMACD said: It's a dumb rumor started by dumbasses jumping to conclusions. Changes in blood sugar can be responsible for slight changes in mood. You know what else is in orange juice other than vitamin C? The change in mood from an insulin response is too subtle to notice normally, but is amplified during the psychedelic experience. That's what I feel cool telling people, anyways. It's probably just placebo. If I give you a hit of table salt and tell you it's DMT, your heart is goign to start beating faster and you're probably still going to feel a "rush" after taking a hit... you know????
Well, I don't know. Whatever.
you do realize you hallucinate when you smoke DMT....smoke table salt and tell me what happens.
ugh, I didn't think you had to be a genius to understand the point I was trying to make, that placebos bring feelings..

If I truly believe it's LSD, I'm probably going to feel different than I felt beforehand, and even if it's just nerves/anxiousness... and someone not quite educated about placebo may start thinking that they're feeling something off of the hit. Yes, my example was pretty extreme.

I already gave an explanation for why it would have an impact on the trip. This is something you would have to test out carefully though because of other factors like stomach contents, potency variation, tolerance, and the fact that no two trips are the same anyway.
The lemon tek is effective for more than one reason I believe.

No.

I do think acidic conditions help as teeter mention earlier.
I am currious to wonder if ingesting vit-c pills increase the acidity of a human stomach?
More acidic conditions = psilocybin converts to psilocin faster.

Care to offer a little more than just no? I think it would at least slow down psilocin from oxidizing into something non-psychoactive.

Maybe people thought they can substitute orange juice for a lemon tek, because they are both citrus. Not knowing that it's the high acidity in the lemon juice that breaks down the psilocybin, they were misinformed, or just thought they were tripping harder due to o.j. being loaded with vitamin C. It's like a big game of telephone. Well, that's what I think. Either way, the placebo effect is always a factor.

Psilocybin is converted in your body to psilocin.
Psilocin is what gets your brain high.
Proof : Type 'psilocin' and 'psilocybin' into any search engine. Read at least the wikipedia entries.
Could it stop psilocin from exiting the body faster, thus resulting in a longer lived , more intense high?
I dont know, maybe..... but the burden of proof is on you.
I dont know enough about chemistry to tell you for sure, But I do try to keep read up on the basics.
www.erowid.org has some good articles and links.

Well psilocybin is just as psychoactive. If you were to inject it, you wouldnt have to wait for it to convert to feel its effects.

this is true; our perception truly determines our reality, our experience on a second to second basis. our mind is probably the most powerful tool we will ever have access too, but more often than not were taught by society to limit ourself with labels and social constructions to "fit in". i mean one example that i can think of is quite breathtaking if you think about it.
im sure that most of you would agree that the computer your looking at, the desk its on, the chair your on, the floor the chair's on, and every tangible object around us is solid. society has conditioned us to believe that this is the case, and that anyone who says anything different than this is wrong. but quantum physics tells us that about 99.99999 percent of all matter (including US and OUR BODIES) is empty space. going further, each atom that creates each object we perceive daily is vibrating at a certain frequency. we cant perceive this vibration though. this is because right after we were born, we were conditioned to live in society. we were told that colors have names, that objects have labels and are solid, and most importantly, that we are human beings living a spiritual life, and not the other way around.
the conclusion we must come to regarding these vibrations we are conditioned to not perceiving is that only when we look at objects do they appear solid. when we turn our backs on them, they return to their regular, quantum, vibrational state. only when we apply our values and labels on them by looking at them do they appear solid. we must never forget this because in doing this we return to a state of acceptance of mundane, limited thought, created by society. rather, question societys values and rules. create anarchy and go against the norm.
i learned the hard way that trying to fit in with everybody else is not the way to go. find your true self and follow it wherever it leads you. find your path, the one that you chose before you incarnated in this body, and you will be rewarded with spectacular examples of synchronicity. most importantly, know in your heart that you are infinite self; you are not a human being living a spiritual life, but rather a SPIRITUAL being living a HUMAN life.

ascorbic acid's carbonyl gets protonated in the stomach, so it's not going to do anything for psilocin there.
convert psilocin to an ascorbate salt if you want to store it, but taking Vit. C with psilocin is pointless.
