I work at a gas station and recently have talked to a customer about a predicament they are having. Really troubling story, actually...
This customer had his house burn down about 2 months ago and the inspectors said it was probably arson. They apparently moved into some kind of investigation, but have yet to completely determine or even find the perpetrator... which leaves this poor guy with no answers.
I have had something similar happen to my family a good while back, actually. My cousin was shot in a barn beside her house where she lived with her husband... When investigators came, they couldn't determine who did it, and the investigation was called off. Her husband died a few years later of a heroin overdose. My family then hired a private investigator who later determined that her husband was obviously guilty of the crime. The evidence was overwhelmingly against him, but the police investigators didn't push for an answer at all.
These kind of cases annoy me... I want to give this guy some helpful information, but I don't know what to tell him. It seems like our government can't solve homicide... even arson cases unless there's some money in it.
I can safely say that we live in a country where anyone could go to NYC, buy a gun, shoot a homeless person, and get away with it. In fact, I knew someone in high school who actually went to New York to do this. Gruesome, yes, but true nonetheless.
So what are your guys' opinions on the matter? Anyone able to give hope to the arson victim? Where the fuck is justice when you need it???

I sometimes wonder about how it seems so easy to get away with murder depending on who you kill. It's really fucked up.

I know, man. I've been thinking a lot about this lately, and can only attribute it to money. Investing money in an investigation with no payoff is a bad idea, and so police do not do it. If you want to get anything done, you must hire a private investigator. People that do not have access to the money required to hire said investigator are thus stuck in a rut. They're completely fucked and the government doesn't give a shit. But they're used to that. Anyone who's poor or isn't white is used to that.
It's a damned fact, and I'm sorry for it.

Yea but I'm not talking about defense, bro. I'm talking about JUSTICE. Personally, I do not believe that there is such a thing as "justice", but I sure as hell know that the American government and judiciary systems do. They have justice fucking defined and stamped in the legal system. They are just not doing anything about it.
I'm serious about the homeless killings, too. If you walked out of your house right now, killed a homeless person, and walked back... no investigation will happen and you will get away with murder. Doesn't that make you feel good: if you really wanted to, you could totally get away with murder?
