Is there any reason in particular that makes you want to quit smoking? I'd been smoking for 10 years when I quit cold turkey this past August. My lungs would hurt when I inhaled oxygen too deeply since I was smoking cigarettes and weed equally and simultaneously. It was one or the other, so I made the obvious choice and cut cigarettes out.
Haven't looked back since. In fact, I still have the same 6 month old pack and the same 12 unsmoked cigarettes sitting on my desk just begging me to smoke them. I don't do this to make it easier to relapse, I do this to prove to myself that my willpower isn't as pathetic as I used to believe.

Anyway, best of luck on your quitting endeavors.

Thanks all for the advice, I'll try and see what works best for me! I won't try to cut down, I know I can't do that, I'm the kinda person "if I don't have it, I can do without, but if I do have it, I will do it constantly". So I'll go cold turkey and try to be out of the house as much as I can. You all won't mind if I post here every now and then to update my progress or just to "blow the load"?

Well, there are lots of reasons, but nothing too strong. I hate the addiction part, I hate spending money on it, I hate what it does to my health, I hate everything about it. And I want to prove to myself that I am stron enough. I quit weed, alcohol and nose spray (I know it sounds stupid, but for the last 4 years I couldn't go anywhere without it), so cigarettes are the obvious next step.

I haven't drank any alcohol for over 30 days, and while I've had a few really fun and good weekends, and I notice other benefits, like losing weight and gaining more confidence... I've been physically ill almost the entire time... as if the consumption of alcohol before was actually increasing my overall immune system.

i think for me it's quite the opposite... i try to tell as many people as possible that i'm quitting and i set myself a date... that way i not only have the pressure of wanting to quit, but also have the pressure of wanting to prove everyone that i can do it...
to the OP: that being said i smoked my last cigarette on january 31st (about 9 days ago)... it has been hard and i have definitely been dealing with some withdrawal symptoms, but i have not smoked a single cig since then and i'm feeling good about this... i'm like you in the sense that if i smoke, i do all the time... that's why i decided to go cold turkey... and it has actually worked so far... stay strong, man... i know we can do this...
