Buy a truffle, take tissue sample, clone on agar. Easy-peasy. Then sell cultures.

You could make enough money selling cultures to pay you back for the truffle, and then some. But not me- I have enough projects going on. I cloned ATL stones onto BRF, I might post some pics of that later. And I built a badass incubator (not for Ps cubensis).

Tangich said: Do you guys really think white truffle would reach prices of 10,000 euro for kilogram if it could be cultivated indoors by amateur mycologists?? Kilo of black truffles costs "only" 1,000 euro. They grow mychorizally with oak, and tough they can be cultivated, it takes years and is not at all simple. Oak trees must grow alongside truffle mycelium. And no, you will not find their spores on the internet.
this is incorrect http://sporeworks.com/store/catalog/Psilocybe-mexicana--Strain-ATM-p-16203.html
No, THIS is incorrect. We are talking about real truffles here, NOT psilocybe sclerotia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truffle_%28fungi%29

Because they need to be grown in symbiosis with tree roots. I honestly don't know what people see in these things, I like boletes or chantarelles much more. But, my theory is, the more food stinks and the more it's disgusting, the more it costs (truffles, caviar, fois gras...). But it's a great business, white truffles grow only here and in north Italy, my aunt and her husband hunt truffles for decades, they have a few trained dogs and a chain of restaurants, and they make A LOT of money.

It is extremely hard to start a truffle farm. For one thing Tangich is right when he said that they only grow on the roots system of trees. And only a few certain kinds and even then only certain trees of those will grow them. They grow very very slowly and not really a way to make money in the near future. There was one french guy who found a bunch of trees that were growing truffles on their roots so he got the seeds from those specific trees and planted a "farm" of them for growing truffles. He never really made any money in his life time but his kids and grand kids harvested them and are extremely rich because he planted those trees long before they were born. Sorry dude but you would be much better off to just hunt for them in the wild.

This thread has been closed.
Reason: It does no good to double post because you don't like the answer trusted cultivators gave you in the other forum. The truffles you seek are mycorrhizal and you can't grow them indoors.
If you'll search 'mycorrhizal fungi spores' on google, the first result is a US government paper on them, which talks about how they're propagated. RR
