It would be a better idea to make a lot of small holes instead on one big hole.

This way, you'll be able to maintain a proper RH, while allowing lots of FAE. Big holes have the tendency to allow "wind", which is more likely to lower the RH.

I know that expanded clay stones work well. I use them myself. It's about the standing water on the bottom of your FC. Standing water provides excellent conditions for bacterial growth. So you better use more damp clay stones, instead of the standing water in there.

ok, I'll drain the excess water and check daily on the dryness of the clay balls, something makes me think that the evaporation and thus the humidity coming off the balls would be greater when the balls are not saturated...more surface area... whereas if they are soaking wet there is like just a shinnysmooth surface of water over them(less surface area)
oh just a thought anyway, if I added some hydrogen peroxide to the water with the balls, that would keep out bacterial growth?
And Ive always used the same tubs for incubation and fruiting, just adapted the setups, so I'll just buy another tub so's not to put loads of holes in it, I digress
cheers for the info

more surface area.

Yeah, that's the reason for it.

No. Peroxide kills cobweb, but that's it. You don't need it.

just to add to wut fahkface said, you should know that h202 starts breaking down into H20 and O2 as soon as it leaves the bottle. So it can't be used as a preventative against bacteria. It can be used as a one time shock against bacteria, like if you want to clean up a tissue sample for cloning or something.

do you think I should use perlite seeing that the humidity is fine, (and perlite dust is a bit toxic)?

Don't sacrifice fresh air for humidity.  Fresh air is the number one pinning trigger, not humidity.  Clay pellets are inferior to perlite.  All dust is harmful to breathe, however wet perlite creates no dust.

Get more holes in the terrarium, don't filter them.  You want continuous fresh turbulent air in your fruiting area.  Mist to make up lot moisture on the surface of your casing layer.

If I sacrificed humidity for FAE,the RH will probably go downto under 80 or something, and the casing will dry alot quicker(I have to spray it once a day) and seeing its starting to pin (but only around the sides, see my other thread) I wont be able to mist them anymore.
Considering that, would you still advice me the same?
Obviously I should get both to optimum.

did you update your pictures after you added the holes? because you seem to have plenty now.

And am i reading RR's statement correctly... No filters for the holes in the FC?
