No, I definitely have only done that once. It was such a mess, and totally not worth it. I also don't drink champagne like everyday.. But I keep this memory in my mind when trying to get a bottle chilled!

many times ive left cans of coke and even cans of cider in the freezer for a hour too long, it turns it into such a weird consistency coz of the bubbles.

I've put bottles of beer in the freezer and took them out as liquid and nice and cold... BUT...
As soon as I opened it and released the pressure, they turned to slush.
You have to catch it JUST RIGHT to accomplish this.

If you were to put the beer or hard cider in the fridge in an open pitcher, and skimmed off the ice when it formed, you'd be creating "ice" beer or "applejack" respectively. The water in the beer and cider freezes before the alcohol, and works sort of like distilling, concentrating the alcohol that remains.

I think you meant freezer, not "fridge" and yeah, duh, removing water from alcohol obviously makes it stronger.
I don't think that's the point of the post though.

I think it would be marginal. Beer tends to keep it's CO2 better when colder, the reason the bottles explode in the freezer is not because of increasing pressure from the inside, but rather the glass gets weaker and more brittle and can handle less pressure. When I had to carbonate beer as a brewer, it was impossible to get warm beer to take CO2, so we had to chill it to get more CO2 in.
At one point one of our ammonia compressors, which kept the glycol cool, which in turn kept the beer cool, failed over a weekend. There was beer in a bright tank (where bottle or keg ready beer is kept prior to being kegged or bottled) got too warm. Normally we have pressure release valves, that let pressure out at a certain point, but it had gotten junked up and was stuck. It got to about 60 degrees F and it blew the mantle door off through a drywalled wall. It also spilled 65 barrels (2,015 gallons) of beer everywhere...
