Mycorrhizae seed inoculant
    #11973860 - 02/06/10 08:18 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I got 2 1g bags of this stuff free with some shroom spores some time ago, with instructions recommending to use 1g per 15g of seeds sown.

I was going to try some this year on some  :happyweed:.

Does anyone know if cacti would also benefit from this?

From googling around and other forums, some have reported success using it with cacti but I've not found any controlled tests. Also there was some warning about using mycorrhizae along with chemical ferts as it can lead to burn due to excessive take up via the mycorrhizae. :pipesmoke:

The benefits would depend on the type of mycorrhizas that are present in the inoculant. Some types primarily deal with the uptake of N, others with P, some are good for combatting pathogens, others good for uptake of water, but many, if not all, play multiple roles. Do you know what types are present?

I just realised they came from a shroomery sponsor.

Glomus spp. are vesicular arbuscular mucorrhizas (VAM). VAMs primarily increase the uptake of
P, but may also increase the uptake of other minerals, but at lower levels. They may also increase drought resistance and fight of infection by nematodes and other pathogens.
