maybe it is just an area thing because I am new to the area I am in, but Kroger (here, of course) now has a canning section which is apparently selling year round because they have the whole range of jar sizes/mouths, pickling lime, jar handlers, lids/bands, plastic lids, funnels, etc. could very well be just my area tho.

If you don't want to order online you can also use tapered drinking glasses. Just cover the top with tinfoil and tape it down. works great for me.

I get mine from Fred Meyers. I know they are Nation wide. Look in the baking section of the grocery PArt.

Most canning takes place in late summer/early autumn, and they take up a fair amount of room. To quote a bud of mine who works at Wal-Mart "The only people who want jars in the dead of Winter are shroomers and wannabe shroomers" ;-)

My recommendation...

Buy 1 pint jars from www.mycosupply.com

These jars are only $8.95 (1/2 pint jars are $8.25)

Nice thing about pint jars is that you get twice the amount of surface area which means more growing room.  Plus our supply of 1/2 pint jars is very LOW

If you need anything just PM me.

Sorry for the shameless promotion but when you can get twice the amount of growing space for an extra 0.70 cents! I gotta say something

According to UPS?  Where on our site does it say that?  All orders and payments must clear first

Anywho, pint jars take at the MOST an extra 4-5 days than 1/2 pint jars if the gas exchage is correct.  If used with filter discs...  colonization time is very fast.  Why more people don't use filter discs with PF cakes is unknown to me.
