Actually.. i suppose you could say that.. but it's pretty much FUNK! .. that's one of the best things about Incubus.. every album they come out with.. they strive to make it different from the last. So yeah.. fungus amoungus is pretty far out there.. not in an electronic kinda way.. just crazy.. give it a listen.. if you like funk.. you'll like it. I love all incubus cd's

If you like LTJ BUKEM you must like Drum and Bass. If you want a mindblowing-trip drum and bass album, go and get Talvin Singh's The Sounds of the Asian Undergournd. It is his first CD, and it is incredible. Some vocals (especially the first track), but mosty pure instrumental. It will take you on a journey. Very different than most other D&B too; has a nice Indian flair. I would also recommend . . . Boards of Canada - Music has the Right to Children Mouse on Mars - Any Mark Farina - Mushroom Jazz Volume 1. Most of his other stuff is reall just down beat house music, but the Mushroom Jazz cds are very good. Let us not for get about Underworld - Second Toughest in the Infants But agian, I say if you like D&B and don't have Talvin Singh you are doing yourself a great injustice. Peace OKKuato

I like most of shpongle's song, but I hear ya on the vocals. Obviously besides divine moments, Around the World in Tea Daze is the most amazing song ever, especially when the flutes kick in. My few random more trancey favorites (not quite psychedelic but very good for tripping to):
-DJ Hydro - Trippin the Trance -DJ Tiesto - Forbidden Paradise -PPK - Resurrection -Paul Oakenfold - Essential Mix At Home in Ibiza Part 2 (21:30 into the mix - damn it sounds cool) -Aphex Twin - Digeridoo

You'll probably like some of the new stuff off of Blue Room (Juno Reactor, Kox Box, Astral Projection are on this label).. Acid Rockers and Deviant Electronics in particular.. Deviant Electronics has a lot of stereo seperation and reverb.. I haven't listened to it while tripping but I was listening to some stuff by a DJ Pat Fosheen that my friend happened to have and there was a part with some really nice wooshing sound that panned from channel to channel and it totally sucked me in... of course it was in my car and I was watching the little lights/visuals on the CD deck move to the music at the same time and so that helped draw me in also.. felt like I was inside the song or something.. hard to describe, but listening to music in a good pair of headphones (I have a $80 pair of DJ phones) or somewhere you can get sound with great stereo or surround I think is definately good... my favorite is taking my CD-MP3 player and hiking to above the treeline and then sitting on a rock and listening to music or plugging into my tripping buddies minidisc and just staring at the clouds and everything and taking it all in... watching snow fall and staring up into it while listening to music is also totally trippy

Personally I don't like Shpongle for mushroom trips, but they were the impetus for massive ego-warp on DXM. Nothing beats a pitch black room lying on a couch listening to Shpongle/Hallucinogen/other Simon Posford shit.

Music is always an important element in the trip: For me some of the best tripping songs are those with a diversity of samples, sounds and words that can provoke your brain and take it on unexpected tangents. I try and steer clear of dark or chaotic songs while tripping ( Aphex Twin, some Amon Tobin) although they are grea artists. Downtempo: Soft and mysterious beats create an atmosphere of wonder (great for nature walks).Diverse Samples used. Trance/House(proggressive ,hard): soaring vocals and rolling bass lift you into bliss.
If this sounds like the kind of experience you're looking for check out these artists:
Beats with samples/downtempo/ mystery: Verbrilli Sounds Blue States The Herbaliser Zero 7 Nightmares on Wax Thievery Corporation Kid Loco Lemon Jelly (suggest Ramblin Man, space walk) Amon Tobin (get Natureland) Boom Bip (U MUST GET: ROADS MUST ROLL)DJ Cam DJ Food Deeper Concentration 9 Lazy 9 Deadbeats Rinycyryse
Also, check out shoutcast.com for internet radio listening; with a stream ripper you can accumulate great tripping music from the downtempo genre stations: BeatBlender, LoungeRadio, BuzzoutRoom, Grooveplay
Euphoric/ vocal House: Dumonde ( djs: jam x and De Leone) Syntax
For a real funny bizarre mind f*ck, download some Chris Morris tracks. Its not really music but you will laugh till convulsions.
PM me for other suggestions to numerous to mention, Will trade: burned dvds filled with Downtempo, House/Trance or Dub meticulously organized from my abundant collection.

Erags: This is my first time here, I just wanted to say thanks for the shoutcast suggestions. I never heard of Grooveplay and I went to http://www.grooveplay.com , and apparently you don't need a stream-ripper for their site -- they feature all of their artists' songs available in 128k MP3 download. Sweet.

Yeah, see I don't like electronica at all. The only electronica I've enjoyed on shrooms is "Emperor's New Clothes." Can't stand them sober. They are acid jazz.
I like Queens of the Stone Age ("God is in the Radio" and "I Think I Lost My Headache" are winners), some electric blues, Rusted Root, The Black Crowes, and classical crossover stuff. My buddy had one trip where he messed up in the setup of his music, so he looped the Indiana Jones score over and over. He just crawled up in a ball in one corner of the room and pretending he was an action hero for five hours. Classical music is powerful stuff.

if you like shpongle, try entheogenic! I guarantee you it is even better.
shpongle fans should also check taruna, toires, adham shaik and aural planet
for something truly shamanic, super organic with almost no vocals - wachuma's wave
for those searching for ambient music with no vocals I can also recomend bleu - ornament the stargazer's journey sanctum sanctorum david parsons - maytreya
for something fuzzy psychadelic: acid mothers temple, shalabi effect
all this music can be quite trippy!

I really like some of the suggestions here. Quite a few are CDs that I always try to have on hand when tripping. Infected mushroom of course. THeyre what started me into electronic music a few years ago, and always blow my mind when Im tripping. Also, you should really check out Aphex selected ambient works.. It is perfect background music while tripping. Very soothing. And I really would try listening to shpongle again while tripping. Especially Star Shpongled Banner. His new CD comes out next month.. I've been extremely hyped for it for like 3 months now.

The new Gorillaz album Demon Days is very good. It doesn't get released until May 24th I think, but it's already all over bittorrent. I'll definatly be buying it later though.

I bet you'll like Shulman. A bit like shpongle, but not so weird, more mellow and no vocals
