 What's a good photoshop program?

Any suggestions? what's the best one in your opinion? does it cost money? if so, is it worth it? i don't really have any experience with that type of stuff but i'd like to use it as a hobby every now and then.
o yea, and i need it for Windows, not a Mac

the only "photoshop" program IS photoshop.
there are other good photo editing programs out there but I still like photoshop the best.
It's expensive as hell but you can probably find a torrent (look for older versions they have less anti pirate crap) and there are hundreds of add ons

yeah Adobe Systems Inc. makes Photoshop
I use 7.0 but never much got into it's side programs like Illustrator or CS

last photoshop i used with any regularity was 7.. i played with CS when it first came out for a little while before i went to gimp.
ive been using gimp for years. never found anything that i couldnt do in gimp that i could in photoshop. its more than enough for the majority of consumers.
since it doesnt seem like you need a whole lot of horsepower with your photo editing, i think gimp would be fine.

i tried gimp and photoshop, since i had no experience in either one i cant really say one or the other. Is there a way to learn some of the basics? I have gimp on disk but PS will have to download again and crap.

I've been using PS for a loong time. I really love CS4, but PS7 is also a gem. I'm getting into Illustrator now and I have to say that it's

My school has CS4 on the computers and I've been playing around with it. I had a copy of CS3 on my laptop and the newest version is SO much better than 3. I can't imagine how 7 looked like.

I'd have no soul without Photoshop CS4. IMO, nothing can compare. Of course, I haven't exactly paid my debt to Adobe.
I'm trying to learn Illustrator, but me and the pen tool DO NOT get along.
BTW, if you're interested in Graphic Art at all, BUY A PEN TABLET. You can get a Small Wacom Bamboo for $50-70. It makes a hell of a difference.

I used to use photofiltre.
It's made by a french software company, but there's an english version and it's free.
Then I got CS4 extended.

Agreed. I use CS3 and now I've up'd to 4, I'm enjoying it greatly.
