PE is a hybrid with an albino strain developed/created by sporeworks http://sporeworks.com/store/product.php?productid=16329&cat=0&page=1
What I would like to know is if experienced PE users have used PE uncut, and if so does it give the same sort of trip. Many experienced growers pick PE as their favourite shroom, with a trip which is not as wavy- up and down- as other normal cubes.
And also did sporeworks setout to make a "uncut" strain , or did it just turn out like that, and was more obvious as being a hybrid.
Malabar is an "uncut" strain, i.e. the veil is intact. Many take advantage of this since it forms its own mini glove box. You harvest a shroom leave it till the spores drop, then inject water and suck up the spores inside which should be perfectly sterile.
This would be ideal for PE, it is a poor sporulator, so you could harvest all the uncut ones and squirt the same water back into the veil on a whole lot of them, and get any of the few spores there is.

Blackout is correct on the origin. It wasn't an intentional strain but one that came about when attempting to create a white penis (release still pending). It is called PE uncut because it tends to have a membranous veil as opposed to the PE which lacks a persistant veil. Spore production is still poor. Efforts are being made to improve the PE, PE Uncut, PF Albino and White Penis, all of which are prone to aborts and distorted mushrooms.

Why would you intentionally create a strain that's below average in size?
I had a joke about "release" too, but I'll save it.

The funny thing is, it is below average in size. Working to increase it though.

I have grown and enjoy both. The potency is relatively similar and the uncut version also has that clean long lasting not so wavy type of trip. I must give a friendly thank you to workman for developing this wonderful sub strain and to Sporeworks for distributing it.

Data from http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_info4.shtml
It shows P. Azurenscens to be WAY stronger than anything else. I thought P. Cyanescens was supposed to be about the same but here it's shown as less strong than Liberty Caps. It does say they're not averages from large samples. Is there a more conclusive set of data somewhere?

Psilocybe cubensis Cambodia
Cultivation Difficulty: Easy Potency: Moderate to Potent Substrate: Concentrated Flour*, Grains, WSC*, PWS*, Dung Colonization: Fast Fruit body Size: Medium - well proportioned
This special strain comes from the ancient temple of Angkor Wat, located in South East Asia (modern day Cambodia). This particular mushroom was used regularly by the early inhabitants of the area and was considered a central focus of their religious ceremonies for centuries. The early inhabitants of this area were able to reach a very advanced state of civilized culture, exceeding in all areas of the arts, leaving behind a tremendous wealth of spiritual as well as scientific knowledge that still remains to this day as a testament to their grand achievements. This is one of the far eastern strains that researcher John Allen has brought back to the US from his forays to the sacred lands of South East Asia.

Cambodians are really interesting.
I had lightening quick colonization and pinning, but growth to maturation seemed a little slow.
Very fun trip though. Great vibes and visuals. I made a thread about what I thought here: link

Just a question, but how much sunlight/heat lamp light, if any, will a colonization need to grow effectively?

-Just a late throw off onto the PE uncut topic-
After receiving the spores from sporeworks as a free hook up thing (THANKS A LOT!!!) I was hesitant to try it right off the bat.
I worked with a few others and just started my envy's about 4 weeks ago.
I love them
they colonized very fast with really thick myc, (sometimes fast growth gives me weak myc with some strains), after birthing to a 12qt sweater box, i let sit for 3 days to seal up a bit, then cased with 50/50+lime soaked in some bullseye water for a bit to help buffer. I saw one early pin on day 5, then my first count of 10 or so on day 7, it's day 8 today and they are looking thick and good.
I have had major problems with contams my whole grow career, it seems everything I touch gets some trich on it at some point. But these babies have grown so fast and are so strong, with 3 other strains gowin at the same time only the Penis has shown 100% contam free. (the others show a spot or two, then I hit them with straight peroxide, and use a little scoop to scrape down to healthy myc, it works mostly)
So thanks to everyone who had a hand in this strain, I love it to death.
I wish I could do this for a living (legaly)

has anyone noticed in particular any strain that shows strong rhizomorphic action on the "foot" of the mushroom? you know those crazy puffballs at the base of the stem where it "grabs" the substrate? i read in paul stamets book *mycellium running that you can use these to spawn, as they seem to want to do it naturally. i think he was refering to azurescens in that case though. anyone ever tried spawning directly to substrate from a "root cutting"?

I haven't grown PR's, but compared to south american's they are more potent, but in a different way than most cubes. Penis envy reminds me more of azures than most cubes really. My theory is that penis envy's have a higher psilocin content than most cubes, similar to azures. I know most will say a cube is a cube, but I feel penis envy and redboy/redspore's are an exception.
