Marijuana and Mushrooms
    #1195492 - 01/06/03 06:05 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

I believe everything has a purpose. Cannabis' has many purposes. It is a renewable soure of very sturdy fiber, and can be used for countless other things (CBD is one of the strongest anti-oxidants). I don't think, however, it was meant to be smoked recreationally (or really every smoked at all, except cermenonially). Mushrooms on the other hand devote a large amount of their energy to creating several chemicals which are seemingly useless to the mushroom itself. These chemicals also happen to have a bluing reaction when bruised. Psilocybes (and psilocybin containting mushrooms) live all over the world, and seem to follow human civilizations around (new and old species are constantly being found in subdivisions, farms, and soil that has been disturbed by men). Pot can be smoked as a gesture of peace, but go beyond that and it hurts the ego. Lets look at alcohol. Non-distilled alcohol (beer, wine, champagne, etc) are normally used as a way of social drinking, almost like a bonding experience. Alcohol is a product of yeast, and yeast serve their purpose to create things like alcohol and vinegar. When you distill alcohol (taking away the life of the beverage), you create this horrible absence of life which destroys people, families, lives, and everything else imaginable. My point is that when you disrupt the purpose of a living creature, it gets back at you like a karmic monster.

I can think of numerous examples of similar situations in nature (coca for instance).

Hmmm...So what about the argument that seems to go round and round on these boards as to what is natural? For instance is seems that you imply that because shrooms produce things that seemingly have nothing to do with what they "need" in nature then they must be producing that for some other reason.

I agree with you 100% and just want to hear what you have to say when people say that ANYTHING a human does is "natural". You make a whole bunch of presumptions in your statement and I wonder how they pan out for those who say that whatever you do is natural......

So would those same people be saying that a toxic wasteland is natural?

I think "natural" refers to nature in it's pure, unmodified state. Most modern man-made things do not fit this definition, in my opinion.

It is very hard to judge what is truly natural, and what isn't. I find that when I go mushroom hunting, I have a sort of natural instinct for finding what I want (if its around). The more I follow my insticts, the more often I seem to make the better decision. My cat loves the mushrooms I pick, and can often be found chomping on one. When I smoke pot in front of any of my animals, they often become scared or they shun me while I am smoking, however my dogs loves the smell of uncharred pot, or hemp. I beleive there is a lot to learn from other living creatures, and I think the tail plays a very important role (at least spiritually speaking) in many animals.

Their tails help their equilibrum in their brains in order for them to maintain balance.

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

No wonder people have no tails. The tail is like the soul, and we must find our tail (soul).
