Holy shit man. What the fuck did you do?

I haven't broken any bones snowboarding but I did run into a tree a couple weeks ago.

Had a huge bruise covering half my leg.

This pic was taken after the brusie all ready started healing. Over a week after I hit the tree...

OP, i did the EXACT same thing to my wrist back in 2000. the way mine was mangled/bent looks just like yours. i had titanium pins put in to set it, and then the pins were removed about 6 weeks later.
and then, i was about 2 weeks from getting the cast off, and i decided to go riding again.
well, i broke the other fucking wrist in the exact same fashion. so, for about 2 weeks i had a cast on both wrists lol.

life was challenging for those two weeks. wiping my ass was impossible, and my gf had to basically spoon feed me. talk about bad luck lol.

good luck with that man, if your lucky you won't need any physical therapy...i did, and that pain was almost as bad as the break.

Yeah, they say to do that, but how often do you actually do that.

If you're gonna slam hard it's a lot easier to catch yourself with extended arms rather than using your elbows. If you try to use your elbows to catch yourself on a hard fall your gonna slam your face into the ground too...

Damn dude. That sucks! Have you been snowboarding since?

And what exactly were you doing? Mess up on a jump? Or just catch an edge?

Duuuudee that looks mighty painful. Those types of injuries are why I stopped trying to do extreme sports and save the injuries for jumping horses.

Wrist guards FTW.  I started wearing them this season, along with a helmet.

The only protective gear I wear is padded shorts to protect my tail bone.

My friend wears a helmet but I don't think I have ever hit my head while snowboarding.

I seem to hit my head often, catch an edge and head slams into the ground.  Head injuries arnt that common, though they are serious.  Wrist injuries are by far the most common snowboard injury so Im surprised more people dont wear wrist guards.

i hit a bump when i was carving, then some ice, then another bump.  it spun me around and threw me on my side so i tried protecting my head with my hand.  i guess it kinda sorta worked....

they set it and i have a follow up on Friday - Doc said i'll probably need pins/screws.

lol, have you seriously never seen gloves with wrist guards built in?

Mine are separate, and real thin.  They slide under the glove.  But most are built in.

You need to drink some milk son! It would take like a 30-foot fall for me jack my wrist up like that.

You could break your wrist by just falling over while standing still if you fell the right (or wrong) way.

When I broke my wrist skating I slammed on it with all my weight and I only cracked the bone.

It would have to be a gnarly slam for me to fuck up my wrist like that.

yea i still go riding at least once a week, if the weather is good that is.

when i broke both wrists, it was on the same mtn, same trail for that matter. someone had built what appeared to be a nice hit/jump with a return. well, i thought there was a return anyway. turns out, it was more of a 1/4 pipe then anything, and the area beyond the 1/4 pipe was glare ice so when i landed my board came out from under me and i caught myself with my hands (big mistake).

and yes, i'm a fucktard for doing the exact same thing 6 weeks later lol.

i love it! i dont have any pics but when i use to dirt jump, bmx, i fucked shit up all the time.

a buddy of mine was on lsd and tried hitting a 3 foot jump with a 12 foot gap and lost control while in the air. he ended up slamming his face, well mouth, into the handle bars and broke his nose and lost 6 teeth. hahaha. they had to call an amby down to where we were, but they could not reach us cause we were under a bridge so it took 2 guys and two amby guys to carry him up a HUGE hill. haha. great stuff.

VA, so im hoping it's 6 weeks because most of the resorts here are only open through the middle of march.  then again, its been a wild winter and theyre calling for up to 3 or 4 feet this weekend... who knows what the weather will be like in 2 months?

I find it hard to believe how people get so hurt snowboarding. I was in Japan last year, first time snowboarding. I had some mighty fuck-ups, landing on my head .etc and always came up laughing. It was pretty deep powder there though. I can't wait till I get to go snowboarding next. Hopefully Canada

That's because it was your first time and you're just learning...

Wait till you get better and you start hitting 30 foot jumps and boardsliding rails going down a set of 20-stairs. Then you'll understand how people get hurt snowboarding.

My buddy just ate shit about 2 weeks ago boarding, he hit hard enough to make his brain hemorrhage. After they released him from the hospital, he ended up going back like 2 days later and got flown out to harborview in seattle from colorado because they found a blood clot in his brain.

But he is back in Colorado now and doing okay....

sorry bout your arm man, I hope learning to wipe with the other hand doesnt turn into a mess.
