shitake Q's
    #11922642 - 01/29/10 09:26 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

hi all,

well the shitake endeavor is going well and i have been watching everyone else who is growing them too. and i have yet to see anyone growing them with the little cracks in the caps.

i know there is a name for it but i do not know it so i will call them crack cap ..... CC

OK so how do you get the CC to manifest i have seen a split but non with the concentric splits.

i understand the cc can sell for more and this is not really my motivation for this but rather the challenge of achieving this neat look for my little shits.

i would like to make this a thread on the different conditions which this fine mushroom can be introduced to and the desirable outcomes.

so if you have pics and teks related to this please post them as i bet a few here might be interested.

Production of the Flower Shiitake or Hua-gu requires a suitable strain, manipulation of humidity and temperatures at specific stages of developement.  The process is outlined in Chapter 4-01 of the Mushroom Growers Handbook 2 available to download at this site.
