david icke - the supposed 'nutcase'

i would hope that people on a site such as this would be openminded. i've seen a few references to david icke in the past, and people seem very quick to take the piss out of a man who they havent bothered to read. dont criticise before you've read at least one of his books. he has some very important things to say about the world...people take the reptilian theme completely out of context with the rest. when you include the vast wealth of information he has researched to support this theory, it really doesnt seem that 'nutty'.
he isn't some religious nutter. he doesn't believe in religions, and explains thoroughly why they are largely corrupt and based on manipulation and false information. he's not asking you to be subservient to him or to worship some false-deity. reading his books, and the consequent reading i have since done on spiritual matter for the past two years of my life, have, undoubtedly, changed my life for the better. if you ignore the reptilian thing altogether (cos it is evidently 'too shocking' for some people....to think that people have the cheek to say it must be rubbish without knowing anything about it sums up how brainwashed they must be) you will find that he has a lot of incredibly important things to say. it's not just him saying these things, but information like this is marginalised.
as george orwell said:
"[censorship in free societies is infinitely more sophisticated and thorough than in dictatorships], because unpopular ideas can be silenced, and inconvenient facts kept dark, without any need for an official ban."
the truth is the truth is the truth. and whether you are in the minority who know the truth or not, it is still the truth.

First of all, I think that Icke's ideas could possibly be true. But one thing I don't like about his books are that he seems to like to spread fear constantly, making me wonder what his intentions are. Misinformation perhaps? He has alot of ideas that are definately close to the truth, but that does not mean that they are the truth...

I agree with Adamist about Mr. Icke.
Some (not me, mind you) think he's an Mi6 (Brittish Intelligence) agent. The thing about spreading fear does ring true for me though...and anyone's who's seen his 3 tape (LONG) VHS boxed set where he lays it all out for you can't help but smile now and then, just a little. At least everyone who I watched it with did

Keep in mind though, I do not think of him as a "nutcase"... His ideas are deeply researched and he has alot of information to back him up, but again, so does the U.S. government and I don't think they are spouting the truth 24/7 for the benefit of humanity.

I haven't read any of his books but I seem to remember reading on his web site that all his "sceret" knowledge was imparted to him via a beam of light while he stood on a strange rock that had mysteriously "attracted" him somewhere in Mexico?
Oh and for the record, I don't call him a nutcase either.

While he has some information to back him up, and I'm sure he spends tons of time researching it, he has nothing even remotely resembling solid evidence.
Perhaps I've overlooked something, in which case I challenge you to present me with one piece of evidence which gives real validation to his theories.
His research methods seem like pseudoscience to me.

Another point:
There's a huge difference between being open minded and being gullible. When a theory has no real basis whatsoever, and seems to just be the work of an overactive imagination, not paying it much attention is not closing you mind. There are literally hundreds of thousands of theories like this out there. You can't possible spend time considering them all, and we actually have a pretty good system of narrowing them down: choose the ones that actually have solid evidence to back them up.

Ah, but when you have had personal experiences that agree with some of the stuff these "theories" say, then isn't it natural to pay attention to them?
I also do not think we are alone on this planet, due to a few experiences I've had regarding some sort of reptilian species that seems to inhabit this planet but in some dimension we can not yet recognize... But unlike Icke, I do not claim to know anything in-depth about them besides their presence, because I have no real way to obtain such information, I think Icke is just doing alot of guesswork; relating many different things into one nice fear-spreading theory, which is that reptiles have subtly manipulated the human species for thousands of years.
I also do not claim that these reptilian beings are anything more than aspects of my own mind. But some would argue that anything you give enough thought to is real somewhere... Because the Universe seems to be one big spiral of pure information... Maybe thoughts are just as real as you and me, from their own perspective. Maybe we are thoughts into form.

I've had some experience with reptiles myself.
My friend had a pet iguana named 'Pookie'.

My experiences consist of a powerful race of beings who have been on Earth much longer than we have, and look at the human race as we would look at a herd of cattle.

Yeah, I searched for alot of information after what happened... "Reptile-people" are a very wide-spread "myth", existing even in "uncivilized" societies such as african and south american tribes.
Attribute that to Outer Limits.
I could try and find some info... Most of the reptile-people tribal beliefs come from the shamans who are usually under the influence of psychedelic drugs, i.e. in an altered state of perception, which I think is key in sensing these beings.

"There are literally hundreds of thousands of theories like this out there. " If you prove a theory it's no longer a theory its fact.
