has anyone tried to knock up a barn floor (with pics)
    #1191644 - 01/05/03 04:20 AM (21 years, 2 months ago)

I have a old barn that was used back b4 my grandpaw died in 2000 the floor is covered in rich looking compost.
I'm going right now to take some pics and will post them in 30 mins or so.

The barn had both cows and horses in it. The dung seems to have turned into a very nice compost but i want someone thant knows more about growing to give me some feedback

Ok I ran and got some pics as you can see the soil in there is jet black and mostly poo. It stays very moist in there. I think this will make a nice spring project.

all the floor is covered in the compost the hay is just laying over most of it making it hard 2 see (wild animal protection on left)lol Last time i was here a coon tried to bite me.

You can see in this pic how rich the soil is.

another angle out of the barn with my dog

Does anyone think this will work?
I'm thinking of knocking it up with some sort of grain.

This shit works wonders n a rubber made tub. I did have one problem with one tank pinning then it just stoped. I didn't use straw in that tank so maybe they just ran out of gas.

I'd scoup that stuff up in to big black trash bags and then Pasturize as needed.  Thats what I'm doing now.  Once you use dung, you'll never go back

I think he's talking about spawning cakes to the floor of the barn. Which would be a nice experiment!  Good luck dude and you should post a grow log of it when you start.

If the poo is leached enough (may not be cuz of lack of direct contact with rain) and you're able to keep it moist in there... you could have a hell of a grow in there.

Thats like an enormous poo casing.. you could use a hose to get it some water every month or so.. I say it could work well.

actually i already use it in tubs with rye berrys and straw.

What i actually want to do is knock up the whole floor in the barn. there is no traffic in there at all except for wild animals and shit.

As far as i can tell the floor is atleast 3 foot deep I've been digging out of the same hole for a year and haven't found the dirt line.

I have a batch of eq's i'm getting ready to spawn to a tub of this shit i'll take pics.

I'm gona go get a shovel of it and put it on some regular dirt and take a pic to show you how moist it stays there.

As for the barn if people think it will work i'll give it a try and see what happens.
I'd also like to keep a grow log on it

It should work. Just make sure it gets at least a little light and that it stays moist in there and you should be on the go.

here is some poo pics

It's very moist and stays that way

I usually dry it out some and pick thru it cleaning out any small rocks or sticks then mix it with straw and pasturise in a 55 gal drum inside a burlap sack.

On the note of rain not leaching the soil. The roof is very lacking in this structure and leaks like hell however the roof does block direct light from hitting it and kept the ground very very moist. I'll get better pics of the whole thing inside after I get started on this.

I'm thinking of using a local spore print off the ones we picked last year. Does anyone have any idea what would give me best fruiting in this situation?

It's in the east so it will have to be done around late march early april. and be pretty much self supporting. Theres a creak near by for water. I'm thinking maybe spawning a 5gal bucket of feed grain.  Digging in a grid so to speak then poring in the grain after it is spawned then mix everything up. Then mist somewhat till moist cover with some black plastic for a few days then remove the plastic and make sure it stays moist.

In general if it fruits anything like the tubs  there will be huge yeilds. There is enough grow space to do a good 20x10 garden.

One more ? is how the hell can i make a barn pin? I guess nature will have to do it am i correct?

That would be an awesome project. Keep us updated on your pics. Start a thread in the grow log forum when you start. Good luck!

Just make sure the wild animals don't trample your bed.
It would be very sad to see several nice little mushrooms all mangled because of the creatures of the night.

I guess you'd have to colonize alot of dung loving mushroom spawn, then spawn it to a pile of the stuff from the barn floor(Sterilized) then after thats colonized, spawn it to the floor of the barn, make sure that temps are steady and humidity are good...
That could provide you  UNLIMITED CONSTANT SUPPLY OF SHROOMS FOREVER!
yOU COULD PROBABLY DO LIKE 3-4 STRAINS THERE TOO IF THE SUBSTRATE WAS DIVIDED BY STALLS!imo ANYWAYS...goodluck!

First off What kind of rifle is that in the pic? Looks nice. I was thinking of doing the same thing with a local barn. The compost is mostly cow shit and hay. I was thinking of wetting the shit/hay and spawning 10 jars of grain for every 10sq. feet of barn. It seems like it would work well.

it's 7.62x39 SKS it's a matching number gun with all the add on's
30rd detactable mag
sythetic folding stock (same stuff glocks r made of) (This is a preban gun bought and owned b4 1989)* makes stock legal
Trapdoor cleaning kit n the handle
hellfire 3 round burst select on the rt/side for semi auto to 3 round burst.

It's a good rifle if you go out hiking or need a good camping rifle. They have a nice price range from a stock gun running 150-250
custom like mine is around 350 or so.

Anyway back to the point of this post.
I have desided to try it. I'm going to work in a small place and work out and maybe my the middle of summer have the whole thing covered
If it was detected i really could play dumb as long as i leave nothing behind including foot prints
and don't get caught hanging out.

Theres lots of stuff in the woods around here that would rip you a new ass if given the chance.

U never know man it might save ur life. I know if i got fuked up and couldn't walk out of the woods for all night and had to wait for help i'd feel better with it wouldn't you?
+ if we carry it camping we have to swap out the 30rd mag for the stock 10rd

A 3 round burst is a bit much + u can't aim it worth a shit with it on but it's fun against a coke can army.
