What is the point of using poo based substrates if their is no advantage? This tek is so easy, why would you add poo which then makes it harder?

Does anyone know how this 8 quart bag compares to the 650 gram coir brick? The bag is 6 lbs. I'm not sure how to substitute this bag for the brick to use this tek.

a 650g brick expands to approx 8 qts so Id say its equal to the compressed bricks as long as its not the stringy rope like coir that sux.. you want the powdery/chunky type stuff.

You don't need to sterilize coir and you can even just hydrate it with warm water and use it if you want. It acts just as a hot water bath / faux-pasteurization.

you dont sterilize any substrates, you pasteurize them and like was said above near boiling water is enough heat treatment to prep coir. If you had a manure based substrate it would require proper pasteurization. but never sterilize substrates..

If I were to add hpoo to this recipe would I just use 2 quarts? It's the dehydrated stuff from mycosupply. I.would hydrate it separate then add it to my coir verm mix.

You do this tek as written. If you want to use a substrate with hpoo you will need to properly pasteurize it and use another method.

How,its very fine and turns to a paste, liquid if to much water. Pasteurize the paste perhaps? I'm new as hell but I have the general rules of thumb down, many brf with not a single contam, on to agar with success, now on to bulk. The jars of rye berry i have are very healthy and ready to be put to bulk in my mono.

Thanks for the input! I used almost the whole bag of coir from Lowes with almost 4 quarts of water and it came to perfect field capacity. Nice powdery stuff and it's really growing nicely.

Just whipped up a batch last night, used my cooler since my store dont sell lids to the buckets they sell, but my cooler worked great! Kept everything nice and hot for 3 hours, the 60 minute mix was a face full of steam. Lol. Cant wait to see it colonized and will post updates. Thanks for the tek. Peace.

Would I need to change anything in this Tek if I have 7 jars of grain? I know the directions call for 5 jars, but I already have 7 colonizing and donβt wanna waste two of them.

Awesome! Thanks for the super easy guide! Hmm but i dont have a bucket - can i just use the large pot I will use to boil the water with?
Also the measurements are a bit confusing, Idk how to measure quarts...
I have a three pound bag of grain that is completely colonized and an 8 liter bag of coco and a 56 liter bag of verm ... ( i know I'll have a ton left over) But what should the ratios be?

I know this is a super old thread sorry, I was just wondering if before you put the bag on do you replace the lid? And could and how would you half this recipe?
