I should of done this method..

I did the other coir method where you boil the coir and get it up to temperature.. was extremely messy and unpleasant.

I was using an 8 qt pot.. thought it would be enough. Only used a half brick of coir... the coir expanded like crazy with a half gallon of water. It was noticeably too dry, so I ended up using a little less than a gallon of water to get it all wet, and then ended up draining the excess water out of it.

Then adding the ingredients all in the pot was hella messy.. it was nearly up to the brim. Couldn't stir it very well, some fell out of the pot and onto my stove.

When I did end up putting it in the bucket the coir at the bottom was not stirred in at all.. so I quickly stirred that in with the mix and covered it.

After about a half hour I checked on it, temp as only at about 140 degrees.

I tested out the field capacity before I mixed it with the spawn.. it actually still might have been a bit to dry. A little squeeze didn't cause any drops, but a tight squeeze caused a stream of water to come out for a second or two.

First time doing coir, so I hope it'll be okay. But I just found this method seems way easier than the other "bulk pasteurization to coir" method because it's all done in a bucket.

Very nice!! It sure looks like the picking tore up a lot of sub. That's your BPK?  I hear Burma will do that.

Yeah it got tore up pretty bad, they just didnt want to come off, lol..  But as of right now I probably got about another 2-3 oz dry for a total of 5-6 with both flushes.  So I will try and get a third out of it and see what happens.

So you find that a tub can still be coaxed to flush again after some damage like that? I'm planing on Burma.

Sounds like a solid tek, I've seen monos last 3 months in just flushes.  Obviously the later flushes are smaller...but not till the 4th or so.  Maybe those tubs just had more sub in them too tho

Yeah I will definitely get at least another flush out of it.  I did tear the sub up, but it doesn't really matter, just looks really bad lol.  I could always put some moist verm over it as a small casing layer, I have done that in the past, but I won't cause I am lazy.

I'm pretty lazy too when it comes to the small stuff like that, especially when it isn't necessary.  If tore them apart before and just let it all mend back up and it keeps on working for me haha

Yeah I take mushroom growing to a whole new lazy, I always get the comments about the sub being tore up then why aint no bag in the bottom to stop side pinning and why don't I fan or mist them, shit like that.

I am lazy lol, and 5oz of dry shrooms will last me awhile lol, so I really dont need to worry about getting perfect pinsets and multiply flushes.

Yeah I hear ya, I usually just follow reg procedure and if i get a small flush then o well haha.  I figure, it's only a hobby, so there's no need to get all worked up about certain things haha

Thanks. This is GREAT to know. I'm really in anticipation over Burma, but was thinking maybe "one flush wonder" because it's known for ripping up the sub. Now I know to just keep going.

Now the truth is out! You're going to teach me bad habits -jk.
Anyway, this is a great tek. The temp holds up for quite a while in a big bucket and the pasteurization is probably quite solid. It came out to a really nice field capacity and I can't think of an easier way to treat a sizable amount of bulk

Thx for the props lol.  What can I say I'm lazy lol, the field capacity is usually right on if you follow the tek, I basically made it for the first time bulk grower, that way they can get one grow under there wings and feel good.  Then they can start to tweak the tek to there liking.

As far as the sub getting tore up if it happens it happens,  just between flushes dunk for 6-12 hours then put it back into fruiting.  It will just grow whether it is tore up or not, it will still work just your next flush won't be even, cause your substrate level isn't even.  I never toss my tubs until after flush 3 no matter how tore up it is.

I just normally toss after the third cause then the mycelium us usually is so weak and it can easily be taken over by the mean green.  Also if you don't like your sub looking bad just put an improvised casing layer of 100% verm.. Take some dry verm and make a 1/4 to 1/2 inch layer of the substrate.  Then give it a good misting till it kinda looks shiny.  BOOM easy casing layer.

Well my second flush is in and was 3.5oz. So that makes a total of 6.5oz for 2 flushes.
