Fruiting Chambers transparent or solid what do you think?
    #1190815 - 01/04/03 07:27 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

I see a lot of photos with people using both kinds. Transparent ones the shrooms grow towards the light solid ones you have to get the light to them some how. What are your thoughts? Just want your input intelligent responses only please!

I prefer transparent ones. No modification is needed and if you have a room that gets sunlight, or any other type of light, that's one less thing to worry about.

Personally i would think Fishtankish(See through) is better so when u check on them thousands of times u dont like the humidity/heat out. but plastic is easier to reshape and meddle with just my 2 cents

i think it depends on your living situation. i think people trying to be stealth, use solid chambers. i believe those who use transparent feel a little more comfortable because of the lesser amount of stealth required about what they are doing plus it helps with not having to use an internal light source.

I use solid containers, but only because they were the cheapest ones in the size I wanted. I sort of wish I would've spent an extra dollar or two on the clear ones so I didn't have to modify my solid ones to let light in.

The clear ones for $7-8 are the easiest, and seem to yeild better then the blue ones woth solid top. Plexiglass window on top also works well, but it's more work- but you do get the semi-steath factor.

I will be the first to say I like solid ones better. If you use solid ones and cut a hole in the lid, then duct tape some clear plastic over the hole. Your terrarium will only receive light from the top. which will make the mushrooms grow upward instead of straight out the sides or even worse and grow down into the perlite. If your using the tall skinny 1/2 pint jars they can even tip over if you get a big shroom on the side.
