Puzzling, and yet pleasing, growth
    #1190210 - 01/04/03 01:41 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

I have just harvested the third flush from my lonely single cake of B+. I have dunked between flushes and also cold-shocked between the first and second flush. Here's a little breakdown of how it's gone -

First flush - three fruits, clustered together, all pretty small.
Second flush - one fruit, significantly larger.
Third flush - two fruits, of a seriously impressive size. The larger of the two has a stem bigger around than my middle finger.

Now I can't really complain about this, especially since the mushies from the third flush were so gorgeous I very nearly ate them on the spot. But I happened to notice that all three flushes have sprouted from the same spot on the cake - what's the significance of this? Is there any significance? The cake is in the dunk-jar right now, so if there's something I should be doing it'd be nice to know.

After the next flush I would put them in the incubator to give the mycelium a chance to colonize some more then fruit.

I've never cased before... any particular tek I should use? The ideal applicant is simple and cheap. Oh, and the cake is definetly fully colonized.

I must not understand something. In order for my cake to benefit from casing, doesn't the casing have to provide more nutritious substrate to expand into?

No. It must supply humidity and water when the cake needs it. If that were so dont ya think contams would attack?
