Aluminum Foil Question?

If you put a layer of foil in between the substrate and the layer of verm, would the foil make the cakes colonize slower because of lack of oxygen? Because think about it, the only way oxygen can get in is through the Tiny holes that you innoculate the cake with. and on average someone will put four pin holes and thats it. Does anybody know if this is true?

The four pin holes are enough for gas exchange in colonization phase.
You can also put an extra aluminium foil upon that one with holes (for max protection) and still have a good gas exchange.
