new trych issues
    #11893881 - 01/24/10 07:27 PM (14 years, 25 days ago)

OK so I have grown many brf cakes for a while. I have had several projects and some time into each one after reusing and cleaning my FC containers, trych shows up after birthing. Not every cake gets hit, its a hit and miss ordeal. I clean my containers with bleach but it does not seem to be enough. I set my cakes directly on perlite because it seems to promote more growth from the contact and it seems to contam 75-90% of the time on the underside of the cake. I would rather not change the setup of my cakes in the containers. I have read that peroxide and/or bleach keeps your FCs more sterile. I guess my question would be, if I add peroxide or bleach, which would be better and how much should I add? Also, with the new mixture, would it hurt the cakes sitting directly on top of the perlite?

Never add peroxide or bleach to your FC while fruiting. They'll harm your mushroom mycelium far more than any molds.

If you're having trich pop-up before the first flush, you probably had something go wrong during inoculation. Are you flame sterilizing your syringe needle and using a glove box?
