The key is to look on your mom's side of the family. Genetically speaking, that's where it tends to come from. My grandfather on my mom's side is 75 years old and still has a full head of hair, so I'm not too worried.

I was/still am worried. It runs in the family, but my younger brother already is experiencing it while I have hair almost down to my sholders.
So at this point no. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Yeah, I'm 28 and I will be bald ... soon. My hair started thinning noticeably by 20. It freaked me out in my early 20's. I mean, it was hard being that age and looking older and dealing with it at a younger age than most people have to go through that. I don't care anymore. I used to hate looking in the mirror, but I have accepted it. And that's all you can do is accept it. It doesn't change who you are.

My mother's father is bald and I share an absurd number of tendencies with him so I think it's quite likely. I'm shaving it all off if it starts to go though... nothing worse than an attempted comb-over.

Same story here. At first I kind of cared, but now I don't. I've always kept it shaved and wear a hat anyway, so once it gets fairly receded then I'll just bic it. Never been into hair

My hair line is rapidly receding and I'm not even 23 yet. It's also getting pretty thin on top.
Once I get to "no man's land", I'm shaving my head.

I'm 29 and still have the same amount of hair as I did in high school...it's longer now, but just as thick, so I'm not worried. If my hairline does recede, though, I'm just gonna keep it long, that may change if it recedes too far back, though...lol.
The way I figure, though, is why worry about something that may or may not happen in the future? Just enjoy the moment.

I can maybe see the stress from the lifestyle contributing to hair loss but I don't buy a direct connection between cocaine use and baldness.

no idea. ive been wearing this hat every day for like 3 or 4 years now. the hair is going back a little in the front but not really balding. my dads hair was the same way. it goes back a little bit and then just kinda stops falling out.
but like i said, i keep it really short anyway. it doesnt make any difference to me.

my hair's been slowly thinning at the front over the last 10 years or so and it won't be long before it gets so thin it looks like crap. I've been thinking about going the Vin Diesel route and shaving off all my hair and beard and permanently wearing a tight black wifebeater. maybe silver contacts and goggles too.
and the hat thing isn't true, men just don't like to admit their lack of control over their own hair, they want to think something they did made it fall out.

Quote:
Caps, Hats & Hair Loss Q: Will wearing hats make you go bald? I've been wearing baseball caps almost my whole life and am constantly being told that it will cause me to lose my hair. Is this true? A: No. There has been no evidence (in my research) that wearing a hat will cause anything more traumatic to your hair than a case of "hat head". That being said, depending on the construction of the hat in question, you could see some breakage or damage resulting from exposed elastic, or plastic components in the hat. Even coarse material can "rough up" the hair, causing damage. The biggest result of constant hat-wearing is usually the lack of air circulation to the scalp. In summer, or during periods of exertion, the scalp will perspire and the sweat can combine with dirt and the skin cells shed by the scalp to clog the pores and follicles. This can lead to scalp sensitivity and can hinder healthy hair growth. Using a scalp cleansing shampoo (shampoo formulas for oily scalp are also effective) you can clear away the detritus left behind by the day's toil under the hat. Thorough brushing with a natural bristle brush (after shampooing and drying the hair) will also help to clear away dead skin cells and keep the hair's natural oils distributed. I think one of the reasons many people have come to believe that hat-wearing is connected to hair loss is because many men who are losing their hair favor hats to hide that fact. They wear the hat because they're losing their hair, not the other way around. Most commonly, hair loss in men is due to a condition called androgenic alopecia, or 'male-pattern baldness". This condition is a result of age, genetics and hormonal changes. It can be seen as early as the teens in some cases, and is usually seen by age 40. It is also important to know that by the age of 35 nearly 40 percent of men (and women) show some degree of hair loss.

I took ritalin and ADHD meds like adderall alot as a youth and my hair is getting pretty bald. im wondering if the vasoconstrictive action of these stimulant drugs throughout the years has had a thinning effect on my scalp.
I try using ketakonazole (nizoral) shampoo and taking apple poly / saw palmetto supplements to slow it down the best I can, but when it goes it goes. apparently my mother's father was as bald as a broken condom.
im also living with a fuckload of stress right now with this recession, the lack of jobs, and the shittiness of my living situation, which has caused thinning of more hair on my head recently.
-------------------- But Jimi was feeling good - he'd shared some LSD with a friend, Herbert Worthington, who sat and watched him from the side: 'Jimi started singing "Spanish Castle Magic" and I was high, I was so happy, probably one of the happiest times of my life, being with an Angel [Jimi] and having a woman on each arm. I just went into an LSD laugh.' Jimi looked over to Herbert, realised that he too was peaking out on acid, tried to say something to Herbie, but it wouldn't come out. - Jimi Hendrix "Electric Gypsy"
