Co2 Exchanger system
    #1188364 - 01/03/03 06:50 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Alright i was wondering if this would work, have an Air Bubbler pump inside of my Terrarium(Fish Tank) and put the end with the Bubbler part on the outside of the fishtank, say i did it 3 times a day for 5 minutes on a timer would it work? In ur opinion, cuz my schedule is gonna be way to busy to Hand Fan :frown:

I have no experience with bubblers, but if you are looking at an investment worth your time then go with an ultrasonic humdifier, or cool mist humidifier (about $40 for a cheapy) run on a digital timer ($20 or around there)
Run a tube connected through an air tight hole in your chamber and connect it to the humidifier. Set the timer to make the humidifier go off every 2 hours or so, for about 10 minutes at a time. This works well for me.

only flaw i see is maybe a hole in the bottom so the heavier o2 can force the co2 out the bottom hole. and then all should be nice  u can use perlite for humidity so no fannings necessary.

you would need a water cooled drill to make hole in glass .
it would be cheaper to buy a rubbermaid .

Who said glass?

I used a butane torch in a rubbermaid container.

I think he is talking about putting the pump in the tank and pumping the CO2 out with it.

Ok here is an idea. I dont know how handy you are:)

Find a small plastic storage box that will hold your air pump.

Make a notch for the power cord to go through.

Make 2 holes for air line to go through.

Pass the air line (hose #1) through the first hole and attach it to the pump output.

Trim off the extra air line on the outside of the box (leave about an inch).

Pass another air line (hose #2) through the second hole and into the box, do not connect it to anything.

Apply silicone sealer around the air lines inside and out.

Seal around the power cord.

Apply a bead of sealer arond the lid and install the lid.

Now you should have an air tight box.

The #2 hose should go to the bottom of your fruiting chamber to suck out the CO2.

This way you dont have the pump inside the fruiting chamber.

Was that understandable?

Hope it helps. AWG

saw a clever id not long ago with a sealed up chamber stuffed with polyfill. kinda an inline polyfill air filter. good idea btw.

Here is an easy way to make an aquarium air pump contam proof.

You take the bottom off the air pump.
You duct tape the bottom rubber part that you took off....on to what was the top.
Flip it over.
You then take a filter disc and put that on what was the bottom....cut it to size leaving a little all the way around and then put the screw's back in to hold the filter disc in place.
Then you duct tape all the way around the filter disc.
You now have a clean air breathing air pump.
Contams can't get through the filter disc.

chances are the bubbler is such an inefficient air shifter that leaving it on 24h would be better.
