I think that if you follow the directions exactly, or as close to it as humanly possible you will have sucess. The thing to remember is that you shouldn't really try any short cuts until you have experience with the procedure. I suggest that you look at the Magic Mushroom Growers Guide for instructions. It's basically the exact same thing as the PF technique, but it has better directions, in my opinion. Take your time making the jars too, just keep in mind that actually getting the jars ready to be injected with spores is most of the work. Try your hardest to keep it clean! Also, you might want to get a thermometer to test the area that you plan to store the jars in. Just guessing usually isn't very accurate. Temperature is usually associated with growth speed. The warmer the temp. the faster growth, but it also increases the chance of comtamination. Shoot for a temp. arount 80 if possible, but any room temperature should be all right.

I think the pf says to leave em in jars until the primordia start to appear on the jars then birth em. I think this is supposed to let the mycelium build a strong network throughout the entire cake. could mean more flushes I think.not sure,I'm not there yet.I just innoculated my first cakes yesterday.This is the method I'm gonna go with. As for heat I think you could maybe put a small lamp over the cakes,not too close but if you have to hide em then I see your dillema. Like codfish said, try to stick to the tek pretty tightly for a better chance of success. I'm a newbie as well so that's my plan.In any case,good luck!

It is not a good idea to heat your cakes with a lamp, unless you somehow manage to get them in complete darkness. Remember, the light triggers the primordia formation and you don?t want this before the whole cake is colonised.
You should wait for the cakes to completely colonise and then another weeks or so, so you see the first primordia, before you birth them.

yea, I dont really want to heat my jars using overheads lights, I am trying to keep them dark, any suggestions?
