Pyschonaut23TN said: Deadboy and the Elephantmen- We Are Night Sky

this one is good but was rushed by the record company, and absolutely does not do any justice for the kind of phenomenal talent Dax Riggs really is. The lyrics are great but these versions of the songs are nowhere near as good as many of the live performances/arrangements. I love We Are Night Sky, but was fairly disappointed when it came out because the recording simply does not showcase the true vocal talent that Dax has, and the songs were much better live by the time it finally came out. EDIT: actually, the thing that bothers me most about this album is how the female backup vocalist sucks in comparison to Dax and goes off-key and drowns out Dax's beautiful voice, especially ruining that version of "evil friend," one of the best songs ever written, but the world may never know
And that album in general (despite some great songs with even greater lyrics) is absolutely nowhere near as epic and as the other, lesser known album "If This Is Hell Then I'm Lucky", which is truly one of THE most psychedelic albums ever made. Check that one out if you haven't.
But either way it's cool that you're showing some love for one of the greatest musicians ever. His first album under his own name was also rushed and also doesn't come close to capturing how powerful his voice and music is, but he's taking a lot more time with the next one, having felt rushed by the record company, so maybe finally something under this latest label will really showcase his talent. But check out If This Is Hell Then I'm Lucky, one of the greatest and most psychedelic albums ever made.

I cant help myself from staring at the pic with the lady and the sword. I've been looking on the net for a bigger pic ... is that a cover of an album?

Whatever music you like is good while under the influence
All I listen to these days is live recordings of the Grateful Dead; so that's what I reccomend. 1977 is a HOT year

Don't think anybody's mentioned Eyedea and Abiltiies.. By far the best hip hop for tripping.

Ott helped with a lot of the production of the Shpongle albums.. His solo albums are in my opinion on par with Shpongle's best.
And yeah Porcupine Tree is a must.
Infected Mushroom STS9 Bassnectar Thievery Corporation
Oh and I can't forget:

Diplo's "Florida" which is really really well done.

If you're into progressive rock with a psychedelic feel to it, check out Animals As Leaders. My cousin turned me on to them a few months ago, first time I listened while tripping was

If you're into progressive rock with a psychedelic feel, also check out King Crimson - In the Wake of Poseidon ...I underestimated them until I heard this album, it's pretty damn , and the title track is epic

Grizzley Bear's "yellow house" was a fav awhile back.
Thee Chemical Brothers' "surrender" it timeless and cosmic, so so amazing on a solid candy flip.
Dan Deacon's two ambums "spiderman of the rings" and "bromst" will blow minds. The music always turns into tebetan mandalas campfire dancing tidal waves and crystal cathedral cieling effects for me.
John Coltrane "a love supreme" "live at the villaige vanguard" Miles Davis "Bitches Brew" I can't say enough about these two. A Love Supreme changes my life and would have without psychedelics. I tear up just thinking about it.
these are just a few of my very favorite artists to listen to while tripping in no particular order,
Aphex Twin Four tet Mum Animal collective Captain Beefheart Frank Zappa Beach House Flaming Lips Bjork Stereo Lab The Meat Puppets Prints Prince Julia Holter Sonic Youth Luciano Berio Butthole Surfers

Wait till you're tripping before you check it out, then listen to the album "First Born".. Mindblowing!

On par? hrmm.. I'll give him that it's bad ass as a solo album... and gives a very GOOD mellow vibe... But shpongle has so many more layers packed in. Donno... Like both, but Id have to put the simon/raja collaboration on top. Skylon is beautiful though... and one I haven't really listened to on a long journey.. I'll have to get back to ya.
