easiest casing tek.
    #1187603 - 01/03/03 12:29 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

well ive done cakes a couple times but yesterday i recieved 2 free spore syringes and i figured, hey why not try a casing. ive been looking around and theres a straight verm. casing tek that looks easy enough but verm. is a bitch to get off the bottom of your mushies as most of you probably already know. so if you could suggest some easier casing teks for a first time please post.
thanks.

Ive used a 50 50 + tech succesfully a couple of times. Its just peet moss(50) +verm (50) and some hydrated lime to keep out the nasty green. The lime arguably Ive heard isnt nessecary. Mix it to field copasity, then add a little more water and either nuke it for ten minutes stiring at 5 min. Or just put it in the oven at 350 for about an hour. The only time I fucked up is when I read a bad faq from some dweeb of a web sight that siad you don't have to sterilize it. Some even use just potting soil! Good luck

i would say, go for coco-coir. I just love it. You can find it in pet shops as a reptile bedding. add water and it goes larger and larger and larger lol lol mix it 50/50 with verm and you r cool.

They are all pretty easy, IMO, you spread a layer of casing and wait. The best results I have had came with a recipe I got from 6Tango.
5 parts peet moss
5 parts vermiculite
1 part coir
3 parts calcium carbonate (Had to go to a homebrew store, if you're lucky they'll have it in the gardening section of a hardware store (look for Lily Miller Supersweet))or enough to balance the pH to 7.0.

Straight verm. is IMO the easiest.
