Early Jar pinning accident! What to do!?
    #11872668 - 01/21/10 01:57 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

A strange thing happened when checking my cultivated jars today, the heater had been bumped (i assume) and the temperature was WAY too high. I quickly turned it off and got some cool air in the closet.
Two jars have multiple pins beginning, leaving two jars un-affected. I was planning on fruiting them today anyway, but, I have to move out in 10 days and Im not really sure if i'll have enough time to get any kind of yeild so I decided to wait till Im in the new house.

BUT, now I have these two jars that I dont know what to do with.

Can I refrigerate them with the pins and that will hault them until Im ready to fruit them all together in TWO WEEKS?  PS, they are fully colonized for sure.

Or, should I just try and fruit these two rouge jars now and just hope to get some product in the limited time i have? Again, they have already pinned, but i have never done this before and don't know if 10 days will be long enough for a yeild.

Thanks so much for the help! Really stumped here!

It's good to let them pin in the jar. Birth, dunk and roll.

10 Days may or may not be enough.. either way I'd birth and dunk and roll and see what happens by day 10.. If anything pick the first flush dunk em, move and set it all back up again for the second flush.

Tend days should be more than enough for the pins to mature. Once your harvested the fruits, you can store them in the fridge and dunk after you've entered your new home.

Good luck!

A lot of times cakes that pin in the jar are ready for FC conditions after
the dunk an roll.

When the colonizing stage is over and fruiting is initiated, the mushroom won't grow much new mycelium, so it could be said, that once the mushroom started to develop pins, fruiting is the only reasonable option you have. It won't colonize "any" further after pinning.
