they specifically state on the box that they are not for processing. Also I believe I have read some damn where (a honey tek I believe) that they cannot be PC'd. I was hoping somebody had proved this wrong. I don't think they can be, they are not the right type of plastic. The big question is why the hell there is not a PC'able plastic lid available... I'd buy a gross of them.

PCing at 15 psi certainly wouldn't be too hot for the plastic. it must be the pressure itself that is the issue. they must be worried that the plastic will crack under the pressure.
so i would guess that if you put a hole in the lid and filled it with polyfill or used a filter disk that the pressure would no longer be an issue and the lids should work fine. the filter should keep the pressure difference from getting too high and cracking the plastic.
i am certain i have seen those lids used for grains.

Does it have a recycling logo on it like this:

That is the code for polypropylene which should withstand pressure cooking. Be careful though!

they don't have anything imprinted on them. I'd like to add that I HAVE boiled honeywater with a plastic lid (ala PF tek w/o PC) and made sure that the lid was loose. The glass or plastic or both did some kind of expanding/contracting because that lid was on so tight after it cooled that I had to break the glass out of the lid, note that the lid still fits on a jar mouth just fine so it didn't exactly deform. just a lil warning.

The ones I've seen the 'pro' use were the white ones. I think some of the suppliers here sell them- maybe mycosupply?? Sporeworks? But definitely the way to go.
