Summer Festivals

So everybody, I am going ahead and getting this thread started even though I may be a little bit ahead of the game. I am going to try and do multiple festivals this summer and I was wondering which ones are the tits besides bonnaroo and rothbury and stuff. Here is my schedule so far.
-Coachella (but this one is my most far fetched festival because it is so far away and will be so expensive. I live in Mississippi) -Summer Camp (maybe ) -Wakarusa -Bonnaroo -Rothbury -All Good (assuming I am not completely broke by then)
So everyone what festivals are you doing and what festivals are fun and what festivals should I think about adding to my list? (keep in mind I live on the eastern half of the US)

Can you post locations of these? I'm getting into the Festival scene and most of the ones heard of are faaaar away. Rothbury looks like it's the closest being in Michigan. Note, I live near Chicago.

You also have Lollapalooza which is really cool for a city festival. I saw Radiohead there two years ago and it was wonderful!

IMHO, the smaller ones are more fun...that's not to say the mega fests aren't...

Plan on hitting a few this spring/summer myself for the first time. Check out www.jambase.com , they usually have a pretty good list up.

These folks have some pretty groovy small festivals out in the Western Maine woods (weekends of June 18, Aug 13 and Oct 1 this year). No band lists yet this year but The Brew usually headline Fri or Sat night.

im really not trying to be a dick but here is my opinion
while Nelson Ledges has a very beautiful park and amenities and good music the staff and getting caught factor is high there
and at Ekoostik Hoookah theres a lot of drugs and not to bad about getting caught although it does happen, there music is so fucking horrible its unreal

Best small festival = Schwagstock. (www.campzoe.com) Hands down. Coolest people, best drugs, good music (if you like Grateful Dead and such)
Best large festival = Rothbury. it's the tits.

Fee.. you couldnt be more right about the staff. I forgot to add that disclaimer!
And the thing is, theyre not after the recreation user/concert goer. They are looking for the pushers... And where it once was a haven for such a thing..now it is no longer. Infact i had a very scary episode there once; i had brought a newb (need i say more) and well they ended up snatching me up, taking me to the front, where they proceeded to take my whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, laughers, AND screamers! G's worth..and luckily let me back in the park (with some smoke even!, ha nice guys eh?) but atleast i didnt go to jail.
So yeah there is pusher-beware warning that comes with nlqp, but the average concert-going, fun-loving, high-getting traveler need not worry..
But really... no Hookah for u huh? I'll admit i have left shows early, no doubt, but when they're on point i dig 'em. maybe its because they're a home-town jamband and well, im ohio grown. But i think they're decent (on a good night)
Ryan~

My fave festival, 5 mins from my house. The "Festivus for the Restivus" Cabot, VT. This year it was 3 days and dubbed the Manifestivus. Barrington Levy, Black sheep, Oumou Sangare, Midnite, Movement of the People, Earl "chinna" Smith, wombaticus rex, Toubab Krewe! (they started this festival on their land, they kick mega ass too.) and many more. The weather is always good and there are toooons of drugss (no bitchiness about nitrous) and no security what so ever. A trippy ass stage! Good food and a pond. I know a lot of the ppl there so its always the shit. There was this african drum demonstation under a tent, and the crowd were behind a fence watching, I managed to "candyflip" my way over the fence and completely disrupt the performance by freestyle dancing and making charlie chaplin-esque jokes. The festival was so chill the big african guy in the funny paint came up to me smiling after a minute or so and asked me to come back and dance in 20 minutes. I realized everyone was cheering and taking pictures, and it felt so good beacuse i ate like 2 pink stars haha. But the African dude spooked me and I couldn't respond because i was so high on acid that I was reduced to the grunting noises. So I hopped back over the fence to explore somewhere else.
http://www.manifestivus.com/
So yeah if your in the northeast its a real treat, I have seen the craziest funny shit go down.

Gathering of the Vibes is back at bridgeport despite the death last year. dont know if security will be tighter this year, regardless the grounds are beautiful, right on the sound at seaside park. i need to make the voyage out to MI for Rothbury, that sherwood (sp?) forest, seems like a groovy place to spend a trip after a night of music hopefully Phish will go back to their tradition of summer festivals, i want to make a trek up to Limestone

The pictures on the site from last year make rothbury look like a trippers mecca.

I'm probably only going to be able to do one or two bigger fests. Most likely Rothbury and some more hipster fest in the spring like Sasquatch. Coachella would be nice too. I'd like to go out west though I don't know if I can.
Oh and probably some Ledges fests. Summer Dance and PFunks fests.

Bought my ticket for Wakarusa a few days ago and I am fucking pumped. I wanted to go so bad last year.
Driving from Mississippi also, so that's probably going to be it for me this summer.

I went to AllGood last year, it was incredibly beautiful. Nitrous goons everywhere. Lots of fun though. West Virginia is prolly the most beautiful state on the east coast, and the Marvin's Mountain Top is almost the perfect place to hold a festival. Once you see it, you'll almost not even believe it.
Prolly going to hit up Broo again. Really can't beat it being so close and such.
