 Things to do in Hawaii?

Ok, so my parents are taking me to Hawaii for a week in February. My mom is trying to book everything ahead of time and is suggesting things like a luau's and going to the Polynesian cultural center to see traditional performances. I was glancing over the tour and obscenely ripped men in grass skirts dancing with swords and wearing costumes just doesn't do it for me.
I want to be nice - but this shit seems so over the top touristy and i am totally not into it.
My parents would totally be down for doing things that i am into - i am just not sure what i want to do. My mom has mobility issues so extreme sports are out of the question. However, i would be interested in see volcano's, botanical gardens or botanical tours, snorkling... and i don't know what else. Just not overpriced tours designed to make boring people feel good about wasting their money while in Hawaii.
Does anyone have any suggestions for cool things to do in Hawaii?

maybe sample the local yogurt, or even visit a dairy farm!
its too bad its landlocked, cause beaches would be great this time of year :

See trained Dolphins at the Hilton
Spend a day at the beach, go surfing/boogey boarding
Eat out, a lot
Go to Kona Brewery and hit up the pub
Chase wild turkeys around (i seen em near the hilton on the big island)
Snorkeling, if the surf is right
Eat the seafood, and the pig
Go to the Farmer's Market in Hilo on the big island
- best farmer's market i've ever been too.
- it's festive, there's art, and the vendors carry all kinds of crazy food you really can't get back in the mainland. ie: rambutans, fresh papyas, ice cream bananas, mmm
If you have like a couple hundred to spend... they do paragliding sessions on the BIg
The National Park on the Big Island is cool to check out and serves as a good destination to spend time with parents

I am going to check out our planned itinerary and see if it'll jive with the farmers market and the national park.
I am also interested in Scuba if i can find something affordable.
My parents have never taken me for Vacation and i have the impression i will be getting spoiled and be able to do pretty much whatever i want, on their dollar.

What part of Hawaii would you guys consider "the best."
Also - Hows the Polynesian food? Recommend me some dishes!

i hate traveling with a planned itinerary. it feels like everything is on a schedule.
i love to go places and just explore.
probably why i havent really had an intrest in HI.. seems too touristy.

Make sure you visit the tropical region of the island, especially if you like plants. It was so, so ungodly beautiful. I would run away from society and live off the land if I weren't pussy...
I went to Hawaii last summer (I assume you're visiting the big island?) Check out the lava tubes. Visit Kaumana caves. I went there and saw NO tourists; none!
I don't know if this is an option or not, but I tripped a solid gram of cubes in the caves  One of my most monumental psychedelic experiences, ever. Especially when I walked out of the caves and was enveloped in the lush greenery of the tropical rain forest. Man, the plants there already look trippy! Especially those rain trees that form like umbrellas...

Yeah - thats how i do it too. My parents are taking me and they're making an itinerary - it's sort of necessary to an extent, when your only there for a week.
I am definitely going to go diving - i am looking into the PADI certification course? I wonder if it's worth doing something like that, while on vacation? Any opinions?

Visit Jurrasic Park on Kauai.
Its free and open to the public. There's so many different dinosaurs to look at, its crazy! They even do live feedings with various farm animals to a full-grown T-Rek named Chompers! It'll blow...ya....mind.
And you want to see hot, GLOWING-hot liquid-rock, known to the island Wahine (pronounced "Wa-he-ney") as "lava", flowing on the ground, go to the East side of the Big Island.
Its incredible. And if you try to piss on it, make sure you some power behind that steam, 'cause its gunna burn!

Ditch your parents for a little while somehow and come burn one down with yours truly! Are you guys going to oahu?
I would say go for some hikes if your mother can handle it. The hikes are really nice and pretty user friendly and there is some cool waterfalls. Also I'd recommend doing some watersports, you should try surfing or bodyboarding, both are fun

Oahu, yeah.
My parents expect to fuck off for as much time as i want
she's actually booking it so i can go to the source festival if i want, but i am not sure if i am into that, having to fly to a different island and what not.
I heard it was good to rent a scooter and go around. I am wondering if i should bring my skateboard to cruise around on?

I was in Hawaii a couple of years ago on the beach and this kid whistles at me "need any buds".
My gramma was not but 10 yards away otherwise i'da bought a bag.
Wear a bob marley shirt or something and go somewhere hip.

If you have the time/money PDU, check out Kauai. I think its one of the most beautiful islands in the chain. The beaches are incredibly sandy and the jungles remind me of Jurassic Park (mostly because I saw wild velociraptors went I took a trip there during the summer, then again that might have just been the shrooms I picked there)
