jar moisture content after setting post pc'ing
    #11843109 - 01/16/10 08:48 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

i have several 1/2 pnt brf jars i pc'd before xmas (4 holes with tyvek under lid). i knocked them up a few of weeks ago and threw em in the incubator but have yet to see any kind of growth. under these parameters, is moisture loss a plausible culprit? could i boil some syringes with water and just inject it? any help would be much appreciated.

ps. great dvd rr just got it in the other day! thanks

I've waited as long as a month to see growth, but it's rare.  Usually if a jar hasn't taken by this point, it's not going to IME.  I've never seen a jar dry out completely in only a few weeks, so I doubt moisture loss has anything to do with it.  Injecting to rehydrate a colonizing cake is apparently a bad plan anyway.

I've re-inoculated old jars that didn't take the first time around with success many times, but if you're a beginner it's probably better advice to just start over.

thanks for the response! i looked closely and am seeing condensation inside the jars, and now am seeing a small amount of ryzomorphic growth in one of the jars, they're probably just late bloomers. thanks again
