Corncob substrate

Here's another one

For anyone who's ever tried the corncob slurry recipe, can you just case the corncob myceleum and grow from the corncob by itself?

It seems like a good idea because the corncob colonizes really fast.

Dude, I am so glad you posted, I was wondering the same thing today. It sounds like such a good idea, just use cakes as spawn for the corncob stuff and you easily increase your yields! I even found the corncob stuff at the petstore today. I am going to try it, I dont see why it wouldnt be a good idea. I'll keep you posted. Good luck to you too

New plan.

I'm going to use the corncob to make straw balls and inject a nutrient solution after colonization. Blood meal maybe.

That, or go half and half grain or seed with the cob.

some. Be careful about excess moisture and watch out for green mold. That crap is airborne and once you have it its hard to get rid of.

Other than that, straw is relatively bacteria resistant and you can grow huge amounts of shrooms on it.

The "straw ball tek" is very effective.

Hey thanks man! So now another question for you or any body that knows, Can I just use hay? Or is straw necessary and better for some reason?

Sure, hay can be used. There's a lot of stuff about it under Mushroom Cultivation at Grow/Find on the main page of this site.
